Hi there,

I have a Rockshox Reba RL that collapsed about 6 weeks ago. I took it in and the mechanic told me that it needs a

service. He replaced the seals on the shock and it lasted for one ride (60km). I took it back and it looked like the valve on the + side. this was then replaced but it is still collapsing, it has been back 4 times now, does anyone have any ideas

please?

Regards,

Etienne

Could be a few things, but I'd have to have it on front of me to make a diagnosis. If you want a decent second opinion, Dave at Spoke and Spanner is closer to you that I am - he should be able to sort you out.

Hows that going to help replacing a fork?...

I happen to know a guy.

OP is it a dual air fork ?

Why i say that is many LBS say they can service forks and shocks etc but can they really.

Know the OP and the bike - Anton, yes its a dual air fork. Keeps collapsing and you cannot pull the fork back up - once you release the bottom valve you can pull it back up but then oil comes out the bottom valve.

If you are willing to drive out to Boksburg Cycle Lab then you must take your fork to Peter. He is the best. Not the quickest but you will feel like you have got a brand new shock!

'He is the best'

Not to be funny but what do you base that on?

That means the negative seal might need to be replaced.

It will be really hard to determine without actually stripping the fork down .

Which is what i suspect the initial service place did not do properly, they assumed it needed seals and that was it..
