Mtb race was so ***. We used the same route that they used in the National series last weekend. The guy who layed out the route then obviously fell asleep, of boredom would be my first guess. So after 17km we made a u-turn and came back on exactly the same route. Organising was good and waterpoints etc, but this raced was more expensive than the National series, I feel ripped off. Wont bother again.

Did a 3:13 on 108km in Group D.

There was 1 crash in our group. (that I know of)

Dropped my chain twice in the last 25km.

Had to stop to fix it, caught the pelaton again each time, which left me running on reserve up Vissershok.

Very nice and well organised race.

The climb to the finish, I could do without though.

Really enjoyed this race.

Very disappointed concerning my performance :cursing: . But can only make me stronger.  :whistling:

Was late this morning so missed my group and started in F, pulled hard over the first few KM and was rewarded by catching E.

Set back and helped so now and them, :whistling:

Tested my climbing legs a few times during the climbs to make sure I brought them with and to my surprise they were there , could pull away from the strong guys up on the longer hills.

Then its happened again :cursing: ... the 80KM bonk   , was only a for a minute or 2(strava estimates power dropping from +-250W to 190W) but was enough to be dropped and had to case like crazy when I overcame it.

Needless to say, little to late and couldn't catch them... and was sooooo much looking forward to a group sprint up visserhok followed by 99er finish...was not to be.

Ended up doing a 3:13, 6 min behind group winners

Big   to the guys that was keeping the pace nice and high ,especially the guy that started in F and worked all the way ,non stop till the finish.....( I would assume)

BTW I was the one with the long white compression socks

the pace was mental, obviously as expected, once we saw how close we were to the A bunch which was probably around 35-40kms, it just gave even more life the guys pulling!

Great fun, it was somewhat overshadowed with bad luck i guess, my brother's garmin popped off in %, mine also pop off about 5mins after we caught the A bunch, and then when we got back to the car, our bike rack was stolen off the car.

Count is up to 2 bike racks - the locked 943 and a 970.

If I may just straighten out the facts with this one: the 99er was the first Durbanville event to use this route. Durbie Dash then made use of the first portion of the route and the Meerendal Ashburton event was the last one to so.

Were the racks stolen outside the grounds? Or from cars parked on the central field?

With so many trails available they could do better for sure. Neway. Voting with my wallet next year.

Well done for winning the ladies Rapunzel!

the one was parked in the residential area, the other I'm not sure.

... you're presuming all farms and trails are available for events to be held on (a recent UCI event made this presumption and very nearly ended up with a serious hash because of it)
