I'd be pretty pissed in this situation too but does it have to escalate to metal vs flesh? That all depends on everyone's personal experience with cyclists, I know I have a few stories. Colourful lycra is not always about fitness and well-being, certainly not from what we've seen in the past.

"We can carry on with this debate ad infinitum, so to each of you who so strongly speak for the rights of cyclists, two questions.

(1)Do you condone the breaking of traffic rules by some elitist cyclist groups and (2) if not, what do you do to address the actions of that small minority that tarnishes the whole?"

Another case of 'the few ruining it for the many'...

As a member of the aviation community as well I can totally understand the issue of trying to get the off the runway with someone joining the circuit, but wow, talk about some anger issues in some of the responses...

Ugh. That Dany oke ... definitely someone I wouldn't like. You know when you have to stand on the smoke side of the braai just to avoid speaking to someone? Well, that's him.

Just thought I'd cut & paste this delightful little bit........The attitude is shocking! Even if you consider it as tongue in cheek.

Here it is:

A Ruger 308 and some moving target practice ( with the Ruger on my property or my car on the road) will get my eye infor the winter. I'm still waiting to see a cyclist in a group or alone that would stop at a r light or stop sign. The day I do I'll be prepared to listen to a cyclist's side of the coin.

Also remember that most people in vehicles are driving somewhere for a practical purpose not just to make up some empty time and look cool when they join in the 94,7 or Argus, so the argument of the cyclist taking up less space on the road holds no water unless he can prove to me he cycles ( and not drives) every where to get some practical business done.

There are retards everywhere these days...

Especially ones riding on an active runway!!

There are certainly a lot of cyclists that seem to do their best to give us a bad name - a lot of the animosity towards us is caused by idiotic behavior...

Common sense and decency is all I want for Christmas.

@DJR.

Just to back the Jumbo Pilots. Most of the pilots on there are weekend warriors.

A large number of airline pilots are actually very keen cyclist.

I know, I have 2 friends flying for the airlines, I'll go change my post to be fair.

It doesn't matter what activity it is, you will always find that individual/group that believe rules are for everyone but them...

One would have thought that these Pilots have a decent education and the ability to spell basic words, Im glad I dont have to get in a plane with any of these hackers.

Yes there are a few cyclists that ruin it for the rest, no need to try run them over or advocate it.

I ride a motorbike everyday on a commute and I see how many people jump red lights in their "cages". This all seems a little bit of pot and kettle to me.

Common sense and common decency toward others is sadly lacking in our immature society, It will take generations to get to a state where we live in a country that even approaches Madiba's dream.

It's all apartheid's fault. Just ask the President what caused the blackouts. Wonder if number one was coming in to land on the runway where those stupid cyclists were. Was this in the KZN midlands?

But they are right. There are complete chops out cycling everyday ..... and then they get into their cars after words and drive like complete chops.

Problem is society and not the persons preferred means of transport.

Recon these guys on that aviation forum just like getting together and then getting high.
