So when this guy comes off his bike, bangs his head on the tar and has blood streaming from a cut ,it becomes my problem because I will stop.None of his friends however had the guts to tune him.But then again we say nothing when somebody is on the cell while driving.South African entitlement!

Helmets are the religion of cycling.

Helmets are protective bud. Unless you like big scars on the side of your head (if you're lucky), wear one. Does it really hurt that much?

Ai Bra, looks like you were close enough to tune him yourself...?? Did you? If that was me and you posted a pic of me without my consent and made such a big fuss "behindd my back".... well, then i would be a bit hacked off. If you have the brass to tune someone on a public forum, then you should have the brass to tune the guy straight to his face next time... Just saying.

This IDIOT is often seen on the Bottelary road without a helmet. How can someone not obey the basic rules of cycling?

The year is 2014 and not 1974 when cycling was done without helmets. Someone needs to act and get this IDIOT off our roads. He is a danger for everyone, go and spend your time on a spinning bike then #safecycling

Another candidate for the "mind your own business club"

OP, people like you who don't understand freedom of choice. Next you will supporting the banning of bicycles because they are dangerous.

Take responsibility for your own safety and don't poke your nose into everyone's business.

Once we start seeing laws as mere suggestions, society lost it.

And we are not very far off

Poor example.

Driving without seatbelt more apt.

So you cherry pick rules you want adhere to based on how you feel about them

Rules are rules, and he is breaking one. Done

I dont think it is cool. Although it is his saak, it creates the wrong message.

I am a campaigner for each and every cyclist to wear a lid when riding. I would just confront him and ask why he isnt wearing one.

To paraphrase the late James Marshall Hendrix, "Excuse me while I fan the fire"

I absolutely agree with Chris Boardroom's position.

For my own part, sometimes I do wear a helmet, normally when my speed is likely to be higher or lots of turns or bad roads/tracks, but if I'm just having a relaxed ride on empty roads then I want to enjoy the wind in my hair, isn't that what cyclings about?
