IDIOT without helmet

This IDIOT is often seen on the Bottelary road without a helmet. How can someone not obey the basic rules of cycling?

The year is 2014 and not 1974 when cycling was done without helmets. Someone needs to act and get this IDIOT off our roads. He is a danger for everyone, go and spend your time on a spinning bike then #safecycling

Live and let live - its his choice.

Mind your own business and put all that angst into your pedals.

Its really not worth getting so worked up about.

If that's what you think try missing a payment to a bank. They always phone you which shows they care

This is exactly why all payments are by prearranged debit orders. Ain't nobody got time for that...

sometimes I wish people could be so passionate about wrongs that really matter...

domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, raping of girls/women (yes this happens more than you think and most likely happens/happened to somebody close to you), gambling, corruption, tax evasion, bribery, cheating spouses, people not taking responsibility for their children etc. are stuff that are happening all around us.

people riding their bikes without helmets are just really not such a big deal when you analyze the real problems of our society and to be quite frank, I haven't seen a name and shame thread on thehubsa since I joined that is about anything else than helmets, red traffic lights, dudes riding 3 abreast, the odd scammer or douche bike shop.  Are these "soft issues" really the only things that matter to us and that us cyclists are willing to stand up for?

PS i never said that the dude riding without a helmet is not stupid, there are just many others (likely even in that same group) that get up to much worse **** in their everyday lives.

Hey, this is a cycling site and all these are cycling related issues. That is why.

No surprise there

It is the law did you know???

Edit: you can then also argue that the speed limit is freedom of choice

Haven't aired this one for a while, but it's not "the law" as folk would normally understand it.

Yes, wearing a helmet was written into the Act, but then no penalties were set for transgressing it. This was because the Government realised it was prejudicial to the great majority of the cycling population who couldn't or wouldn't afford helmets.

So wearing a helmet is generally a good idea but you're not a criminal if you don't.

Also found it ridiculous that OP rides behind a guy and takes a pic to start this thread.

Hey Nutty, why didn't you take a better photo of me pacing the bunch? :whistling:

He's obviously got a very good reason to ride helmet-less....

1. He might be recently divorced

2. He might have a death wish

3. He might have a titanium dome

4. He might be superman

5. He might be a psychic

6. He might be a statistician

7. He might have a very good guardian angel.

So when this guy comes off his bike, bangs his head on the tar and has blood streaming from a cut ,it becomes my problem because I will stop.None of his friends however had the guts to tune him.But then again we say nothing when somebody is on the cell while driving.South African entitlement!

We were not his friends, he just snuck up quiet like, no greeting and sat in the bunch. Plus I'm from the 'flats; I will not tune any breker from beyond the boerewors curtain, on his turf nogal. People have been shot for less :D

Interesting article here: http://www.cyclehelmets.org/1012.html

It suggest more pedestrian and motorists' lives would be saved if they wore helmets. Although I wear a helmet 99% of the time, I do occasionally enjoy a hatless trundle when I feel I have control of my surrounds. It's about managing the risks. I once did a helmetless ride in the cradle accompanied by my then 23 y/old daughter who I had lent mine to after she forgot hers at home. I was astonished at the wise-ass comments from the likes of the happy snapper OP. What if said subject swerved to avoid an object and Nutty rode into the back of him, face planting and needing facial reconstruction surgery. Not all people can't ride bikes...
