Wearing a helmet is the LAW and all that siht!!! I know I always ride with my helmet except after washing my bike and testing it but . . .

I now work in Haute-Normandie in France. You will see people without helmets everywhere on organised cycling group rides! For the winter its just siht to wear a beanie under your helmet.

So not that big deal. . .

Pretty cool video - interesting.

Correct me if I am wrong....The cyclist attitude towards road safety as seen by other road users is the issue here. We are quick to point fingers if a motorist does not abide by the law but choose to look away if one of our own is at fault. We as cyclist must show the public that we are responsible. No point fighting road safety but then we don't give a **** !

Big big difference in effect.

When last did a cyclist not wearing a helmet cause a motorist injury or death?

Can you say the same of a motorist passing a cyclist too close and hitting him/her?  Helmet or not?

Fact is over 80% of motorist caused accidents on cyclists is caused by the motorist hitting the cyclist from behind.

What amazes me is that the OP is nowhere on this thread except for his opening comment... Almost looks like a case of: "hey, I know what I can do today! Light a fire on the hub and see what happens!!"

If he gave a rat's ass for the guy or the law he would have done what Smimby did with the cellphone user in the Mazda....

So OP never returned to say if he took the pic while on his bike?

Maybe the helmetless ou in the photo has tracked him down......

It was probably just a menstrual rant- had his cranberry juice and relaxed.

Lets move along folks, nothing to see here but opinions.

And we all know what those are like...

We simply can not move along without a good fight .

This IDIOT is often seen on the Bottelary road without a helmet. How can someone not obey the basic rules of cycling?

The year is 2014 and not 1974 when cycling was done without helmets. Someone needs to act and get this IDIOT off our roads. He is a danger for everyone, go and spend your time on a spinning bike then #safecycling

Talk about a Drama Queen, WTF???. This oke has been riding Bottelary for the past 20 years like this and he's still alive. If you want to vent your anger effectively go and start a petition to get every African commuting to work to wear a helmet, they're at equal risk of brain leakage. And no, it's not Wiele, he's recovering at home with a broken scapula after riding into a stationary car (without his helmet on).

I agree. riding with or without a helmet is his choice, How can he possibly be a danger to everyone but himself. I rode with an ex-pro for years who never wore a helmet. In fact i did too for years in the 80's and 90's, until i realised that trying to look PRO didnt cut it for me, and now would never ride withouit one, just dof if you ask me, but at the end of the day its his choice and shouldnt concern you. Go smoke a doobie and chill bud........
