Guys probably a stupid question but when we say we want a westerly wind, does this mean it comes from the west or blows to the west? Just wondering because of snytjie's weather forecast

Westerly comes from the west

Anyone using a garmin edge on the bike leg?

I assume you put it on the bike on the morning or do you leave it in your bike bag and grab it in T1 and put it on as youre getting on so it doesn't get stolen?

If you leave it on the bike do you turn on before the swim or when you get back from the swim and then wait for it to get gps signal?

Westerly = "comes from the West".

Jip, things are real now.  Dropped my bike off with the bike transport company today.....then you know it is close to the start.

Getting excited but also nervous....especially because i am by far the unfittest I have been in my 3 attempts

No 1 was a pure sufferfest.  Didnt run for 10 weeks due to ITB....i was a total newby to triathlon with only 1 70.3 and didnt really know how to pace the race.  But i finished and loved the experience.

No 2 was great up until 120km on the bike when the wheels came off.  Stomach issues meant i cycled the last 60km in almost 3 hrs.....after the 1st 120km in under 4hrs.  1st 14km was hell on the run but last 28km went well....running 6min/km which was great.  Missed my target time due to the middle portion of the race being a disaster.  But finished strong and had a great time out!

No 3 will be challenging.  No real training to speak of....and not training for the last 3 weeks due to illness.  It is going to be interesting....but i suppose I am good at suffering for 13hrs   Not chasing a time.....just going to enjoy and hopefully finish with a few friends....if i can keep up with them on the run.

Question: there is a massaging service in T2, right?

During all my 180km bike rides I come off the bike feeling as if my hamstrings were surgically shortened during the ride. I suppose it is to be expected, but I was wondering if a little massage would ease one better into the run.

If there is, do you use it and is it worth spending the extra few minutes?

Dont think there is a massage service as such.  There is a medical tent though.  They might assist with giving you a quick rub

My third one (2013), they had angels giving a quick rub with Hot Ice in the transition tent. Worked magic. Last year fortunately I had my own in my transition bag as could not see them there again.

Get a volunteer to put it on for you. You don't want to wipe it in your own eye by mistake.
