Entered the shorter MTB Race, didn't like the though of an additional 500m of climbing in 10 or so km's - I will get there though! :-)

Regarding the PPA registration my better half phone PPA yesterday and they confirmed you still need to go pick up your sticker from CWC, which seems ridiculous - otherwise I guess any PPA member could pitch up and ride without actually entering. They really need to think of a better system!

. Maybe the nr collection is for them. They can enjoy their little private race

For the top 80- 100 riders:

5) SIGN ON: Sign on / Registration will be from 05h00 – 06h00 on the day of the race.

6) RACE NUMBERS: All riders competing in the Invitation Race will receive a race number at sign on. These need to be returned after the race.

I mailed them a while ago - it's just the stickers that need to be collected and can be done before the race as well... Maybe you just got a confused person, Wannabe. Or maybe I did!  So it may be that I pitch up there on Sunday morning and get told to ride the mountain unofficially...

My excuse is simple, even though I'm in town, it's my daughter's birthday party on Sat morning - if I HAD to go and collect something then, they could fly a kite.

Anyways, here's the one-liner answer I received:

Yes it is the sentry sticker that can be collected. You can do this on the morning of the race as well.

I deem this as official enough for me... but then I can take a risk and if I'm told to fly a kite, just ride up on my own - heck, maybe even take some photo's of you guys suffering!

Did a few short rides this week after my disastrous Atta. Legs were still cooked entire week. Really hoped it would be better this morning but really struggled to get through a 1.5hr easy ride. No idea how I will handle a high pace in the 126km tomorrow. Tempted to led it slide......but oh......the depression from not going to a race which you intended doing and paid for......

Really enjoyed the logistics today. Venue/traffic much better than previous years.

But I have a question, one that I have never had to contemplate before : do races normally have toilets at the water points?

Purported 47km Mtb race was an utter disappointment. First of all, it was just 41km.

Lots of climbing was promised, and delivered, but that's all. Absolutely no challenge (except for the last big climb after the last waterpoint, that tested us a bit)

NO SINGLETRACK AT ALL. Race was run on gravel roads and Jeeptracks. Only thing it tested was your climbing prowess. The first few and the last few Km was all on tar.

NOT WHAT I ENTERED FOR!! A real pity, as I'm sure there must be brilliant singletrack there that could have been used.

Feel really done in, should have entered the 126km road race, at least there I know what to expect.

We had a wonderful and fast(ish) road ride. Weather was perfect. New start venue worked great. Quick in, quick out. No traffic jams. Marshalling good. Route scenic and quiet except for short R44 stretch.

Had a good ride in B. Helped at the beginning to keep the group pace high . paid for that by cresting with the second group on Botmaskloof.

Regrouped soon after and from there it was one roller after the next. Thought it would never end!

Great downhill finish.

Can't wait to be in contention and give those Giant guys a run

1st, 2nd and 3rd!

I heard A bunch averaged 40 plus km/h on that course - that's hot

So agree, all those climbs but not followed by any single track just to give us a little something to smile about. Where was the compulsary portage?

Why make it 6km shorter, felt I still has something left in the tank.

Were some stunning views and the weather was great.
