Guest Karma Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 The fact that you and fabes support the OP leads me to believe you are in agreement with his actions and would have done the same. Well then that settles it I guess. EDIT: assumption.
porqui Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 2015 is going to be a "hubber" of a year Looking forward to tomorrow.

Skubarra Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Hey OP, who do you think you are thinking you are better faster more cleverer than us here on the Hub Well his name is Phd and he "know people in fields as far apart as computational neuro-sciences through to the environmental sciences" I would think it's only a fair assumption for him to make? Secondly, if you're as intelligent as you like to present yourself then you should be able to see the absurdity of suggesting less talented riders stick to dirt roads. Nobody starts out highly skilled so removing every path to them improving is pretty stupid. I think that's unfair from you, even a highly intelligent person like Phd can make such a mistake as he was obviously born with amazing technical skills. Then its really hard to comprehend the talentless inferior specimens that keep getting in his way..
rattlesnake Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 "The human brain is awesome, but not in the way most people think." My two cents.... but first..... LOL This is funny ****. We all let the monkey out of its cage every now and again, but this might be one of the more intellectual ways I've seen of trying to justify its escape. Thanks for the entertainment.PS - Please also post some video footage of you tearing up the NF trails in all your awesomeness, would love to learn from it.
Little Fish Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 This thread is awesome. It is coming a close second to the PT Cruiser (ooops he meant FJ) thread. That is still my favourite.
Wyatt Earp Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 fantastic constructive comment as usual.... Radman has very valid points. If you took the time to read it you would agree. All validity just went poooof
Wyatt Earp Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 So I had an incident at Northern Farms this weekend. It was ridiculously busy (new year resolutions in full swing) and I should've just left. Nevertheless, it was late in the morning and I expected most to be returning from the ride.I don't consider a single element of NF to be technical and rate it as easy and 'manicured' and generally go there for two reasons, distance and convenience.Whilst going through some single track (known as blue gum single track on strava) i caught some VERY slow riders and informed them of my intention to overtake as well as on which side to expect me to be coming passed on. This seemed to cause a lot derision in the group of riders, with one of them complaining they "nearly" fell over and one protesting that "it's single track and passing isn't allowed" Really? not according to the IMBAMy thoughts are this. The average mountain biker in this country needs to re-assess their skill levels and be honest with themselves about their skill and ride where applicable (dirt roads). If a rider crashing through the bush to pass you, on manicured, un-technical single track, "nearly"makes you fall over, after a clear and full warning that it was to take place, you shouldn't be riding there. Thoughts and opinions please on what I'm sure is a hornets nest waiting to be kickedWas it a race ?If answer is no, take a chill pill .
the nerd Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Gee whiskers... this is awesome. PHD... hmmm
Skylark Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Whats actually the recognised lingo/etiquette when coming up behind riders and you want to let them know you are coming past, either to politely warn them you coming past or ask them to perhaps move over a tad to let you through?
Warthog Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 It's reading things like this that make me just appreciate where I stay even more. We have the most awesome beautiful trails and gravel roads in the mountains to ride. Ja, we don't have all the "amenities" of city life, but the only time I will have some ******** shouting something at me about passing is during the MTB challenge, and then I don't mind that much, because it is a race for them (for me, it's a challenge...) The other 51 weekends it's just us locals. Just awesome. Oh, and the funny thing, it's never the real "racers" in front that shout...
fabes Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Whats actually the recognised lingo/etiquette when coming up behind riders and you want to let them know you are coming past, either to politely warn them you coming past or ask them to perhaps move over a tad to let you through? You let the rider in front of you know you are there and politely ask them to move over when they have a chance to do so. I never really pass anyone but if someone says that to me I will make a plan asap to move over for them
