Hi Guys,

I would like to let everyone know that we have managed to resolve the issue on the Giant.

I have had a long conversation with Dr Uys and what a wonderful and understanding lady.

Dr Uys has paid me back the FULL amount of the bike and the Giant is on its way back to Johannesburg.

I think we just need to have a little more faith in the people and not jump to any conclusions.

It is sad that now days we expect the worst in people.

Dr Uys I apologise how things developed but I am glad that we are able to work this out.

Please if anyone is interested in the Giant it is a truly awesome bike! I can vouch for that.

Thanks again.

It does sound like a good bike. I may be interested. Any idea what the size is?

Thank you Admin for allowing me to write the last and happy chapter of this saga.

On Saturday morning Tinus and I had a cup of coffee at a small restaurant in Pretoria after fetching the bike from the depot in Jo'burg. A group of friendly cyclists came in. I joked, "Is anybody by any chance interested in buying a Giant Advance?" while I pointed to the wrapped and boxed bike at the back of the bakkie. One guy said, "I would actually like to have a new bike. Where do you live?" I gave my address and the guy said he lives about 500m from my house. He asked me to drop the bike off after coffee. I did so.

To cut the story short, that guy has just bought the same bike. Perfect size, perfect everything. I was so chuffed, I gave him the new helmet and gloves for free.

As the happy man left with the bike I thought yes, he is more optimistic about cycling right now than he has ever been...

Hi Guys,

Sorry for coming in here so late, I was mostly out of town for work purposes.

I really want to apologise for the misunderstanding regarding the advert.

I took the size of the bike from the original invoice when I placed the advert.

I did not even think checking for a size on the bike as it was clearly printed on the invoice.

Brandon never asked me to measure the bike, else I would have and we would have discovered that the bike was too big for him before payment and shipping.

I phoned Brandon on the cell number he supplied on the 13th Jan 2015 @ 17h06 to hear from him if he has received the bike and whether he was happy with the bike. There was no answer and I left a message. I then phoned the landline number (17h21), again no answer. I called the cell (19h12) again but with no joy!

@ 20h23 Brandon phoned me to inform me that the bike is the incorrect size. I asked him how could that be possible because I took the size from the original invoice and checked on the internet what the conversion to cm would be as The Hub requires cm figure and not s, m, m/l, l or xl. That is the data that I entered on the advert. Personally I think that the M/L (Medium/Large) market is bigger than the M market and there would be more potential buyers in the M/L category.

I also told him that I felt like a dog about this and that I am very sorry about the situation. I even sent him a copy of the invoice to show him where I received the size from!

When the conversation ended I said that I would help him. I never said that I will not take the bike back as it was not my call.

He sent me an sms @ 21.01 telling me that it was false advertising and he was going to send the bike back and he wants a refund, and that he would pay the transport. My cell phone has problems sms'ing and as I was out of town, I could not speak to Dr Uys about the problem immediately. I was going to be back about midday the following day. After I told her about what happened the next day, she made immediate contact with him. He did send me another sms on 14th Jan 2015 @ 14h07 stated that he paid for a bike that I did not provide but a different one as listed and was awaiting a response from me.

I could not commit to a refund as I did not receive any money for the bike and I did explain to Brandon in our initial communication that the bike was not mine.

I immediately changed the size on the ad after Brandon told me what the correct size was as I did not want to display the wrong size again and I still wanted to sell the bike for Dr Uys!

So if I was going to do him in I would not have phoned him and asked if he has received the bike and if he was happy with what he has received. (voicemail, @ 17h06, 30 sec).

I want to thank Dr Uys who came in here to save the day as I was on my way to Mphumalanga again for work on which I only returned on the 15 Jan 2015.

Thanks to Brandon for apologising to Dr. Uys and I want to apologise to everybody for the racket that the wrong size of the bike has caused.
