False Advertisement

Thank you for the apology. This was a small sample of how one can become lost in translation. Hats off to you for ending this drama gracefully. As soon as I receive the bike and your banking details, I shall transfer the full amount of R24 000 back to you. Sorry about your big disappointment.

Just a quick question. Did Jared pay for the bike before Tinus couriered it off? If so shouldn't you transfer the money back before Jared releases the bike?

Because Tinus wanted to advertise the bike again and not to disappoint me, he activated it and changed the size to M/L, since this caused so many problems.

This is the only bit of false advertising I see here as Jarryd is currently in possession of the bike.

How can Tinus be advertising/selling a bike he does not have?

A quick answer, fabes. Two wrongs don't make a right. As agreed with the buyer, the minute I receive the bike in the same condition as I sent it, the transfer will be made. This is also why I have sent all my personal identification documents to him. I'll stick my confirmation of payment on this thread too.

Dr I am not saying you would not pay, however all the risk during this whole transaction has sat with Jared.

I am unable to understand what you are saying here. Please explain?

Currently Jared is the owner of the bike.

So how can Tinus be selling it.

Edit: What if a new buyer sees the advert and wants to buy it. Because buyers transfer the money before they get the bike (as Jared did) Tinus is under no obligation to to tell the new buyer the current situtation and risk losing the sale (the fact that some other dude has the bike currently, its not like he disclosed the full story the first time). Sale happens yet Tinus has no bike to send the new buyer.

You sit with 2 x the money and once Jared sends the bike back, the stock too.....

hmmmm

U baie gesofistikeerde Afrikaans gaan n paer wenkbroue ongetwyfeld laat lig. Dit laat my baie nostalgies nadink oor die hele gebeurtenis.

Dankie Renburg.

DiBees

OK - so which one of you? Rensburg or DieBees is Steve Hofmeyer... ?

There was not supposed to be a "risk". The buyer made a deal with Tinus and I received the money in my bank account. If you read my very first post carefully, you'll see exactly what happened. I also took a "risk" by trusting Bruce Reyneke's official invoice, stating the bike is a "Medium" size. I also took a "risk" to trust that Tinus knows more about bikes than myself.

I took the trouble to meticulously bubble wrap and box the bike perfectly, to drive all the way to Jo'burg and to send the bike off to the buyer. The rest is history. We all take daily "risks" when we deal with other people.

I prefer using the word "trust".
