Any chance of this becoming more regular, something similar to critical mass etc.?

We would love to, the problem lies herewith though.

Peoples hunger to get involved, we have seen over the years how everyone cries out for something like this but when it gets to the crunch they can't bother .

Many also feel like something like this is useless, they feel it achieves nothing.

Rome was not built in a day and all things take some time.

We do a lot more behind the scenes than just a ride or two such as this.

What these rides achieve :

Sense of self empowerment,so many people do one and say they feel empowered because they rode for themselves and feel that they have spoken out against these crimes and road murders.

The press normally gets involved and we get airtime on MIX 93.8 FM, this sends out   a message to the authorities and they become so riddled with guilt that they actually start moving a hand.

Networking, people meet new people and make new riding friends during these rides.

We pass the attacking hotspots and ride towards the township and we force that "bush telegraph" to send the message "we won't back down, we won't stop riding because you attack us"

It unites people from all different walks of life, I am super excited about the Soweto ride next month.

But ultimately, everyone needs to support this, whether they feel it's a waste of time or not, it's one way of becoming proactive and wanting to become a part of the cause .

I've sent this to quite a few of my MTB mates, some of whom do not frequent The Hub (who does that?), hope that's OK?

Much appreciated  :D

Can the route be done on a road bike???

Sorry bud, it's MTB.

Quite smooth but too harsh for the rims .

Take the N1, climb off at New Road, just follow New Road (don't worry about the name changes) - at the four way stop where you can see the Plantland in front and to the right of you, turn left and Summit is on the immediate right (green gate).

I can't ride at the moment, but, Wyatt and I spoke about maybe meeting up at Papachino's afterwards if anyone else is interested.

Hey, guys.

The Fourways Review did a front page article last week on the recent attacks in Blue Hills and NF.

Maybe they'd be interested to hear of the awareness ride and get involved in doing something of a follow-up report?

Keen to go but getting there & back is an issue. Any chance of a lift from Parkhurst/Randburg area?

Nowhere near fit enough to ride there just yet...
