Seedings for the Argus

99er is a seeding event for 2016 CTCT, not supposed to influence 2015 seeds?

It might be different this year, but last year they counted the official 'seeding events'.  For events more than 6 months old they added 1 seeding index point for each month (beyond 6) before the CTCT that the event was.  So for Cape Town riders it was only really the Burger that was not penalized.

However, they also counted PPA races (I think it was only PPA races), provided you did 3 or more.

If they follow the same scheme this year, last year's 99er will count towards this year's CTCT (because it's a seeding event), but will be penalized by about 7 seeding index points (being 6 + 7 months before this year's CTCT).  This year's 99er will count if it's one of 3 PPA rides that you've ridden recently.

That said, the method seems to change most years, so don't bet on anything.

They use 2015 99er for 2015 Argus so there will be zero penalty. Pushed me into A last year. Any ride on racetec on Monday 9th of Feb is used.

Don't worry about seedings, worry about something you can change, fitness :)

I sure hope they finally get over combining all the vet groups, elite woman and A group... how many years in a row do the want a mass accident in this groups sprint finish?

What determines whether you'll get seeded in elite vs VA or A? Does your PPA index have to below a certain number?

Firstly age. Elite is 24 to 29. VA is 30+. Then your seeding index needs to be below a certain number. In some of the bigger races where they say the capping the size of the group they will take the top ?? amount of guys in that category. You also need a different license to be Elite or Vet.

Over the hill at 33, haha. Is that licence you need just the CSA racing licence?

I've been in the VA bunch for a couple of years now and you don't need any license.

I only did the PPA funrides and got seeded for VA.

Hmm that's interesting. So whats the point of paying the extra to CSA for a racing license if I don't need it?

By all your reasoning, I'll have a crappy seeding then. :whistling:

Only did the Argus and Burger last year, (and one or two smaller road races like the WCE)  and will be doing the Tour De Stellenbosch mid Feb. No other road races done to influence seeding.

Ja boet, but you smoked the Argus last year, if I remember correctly!

I have now realized that I wont be getting a sub 3 so have set my target on doing the official double lap. Sadly my index is drifting up, leaving me on the cusp of still being invited and actually getting through on time to start the second. Suddenly I am all nervy about the seeding!

The games we play.
