Why do you ride?

My cousin gave me her old steel-frame dunflop bicycle shaped object. After huffing and puffing around Koeberg a couple times, I was ready to give up. Then her hubby dragged my sorry ass up Hillcrest. I never swore so much in one hour as that day pushing that beast uphill to the top. I had made up my mind I would NEVER ride after I got home. Then I saw the ST, and within a week I replaced the Dunflop, which I killed btw on the way down aforementioned ST. Bought my new 29er and have not looked back a day since.

Also, I dropped from 125kg to 111kg in roughly a year and a bit

Started riding a mates old Nishiki to help training for a mountain climb we were attempting, would ride a couple of hours and then do a 'hike' with a loaded pack for another couple.

I was hooked immediately, love being 'out there' in nature, whether its messing around in the mud on the SS or riding and exploring some new trails with new friends(rode with Hairy who I 'met' on the Hub in Cape Town this December) or 'racing' and seeing new parts of our country I would never have. It is also something the wife and I can do together. Tumbleweed had a signature at some point, something about '...on a mtb, you can ride a short distance in a long period of time or a great distance in a short amount of time, the thing is to explore your city, town, country. Just ride your bike...'

The Forum - joined when I wanted to get some advise, have bought bikes on here, built my own SS with help from others, made some friends and enjoyed loads of banter and serious discussion with like minded people.

I've never actually been able to ride.

I mean, come on! How do you guys get those things to stay upright?

hahaha the faster you go, the easier it is! (in a straight line)) hahahahaha

I ride for fun, I get to spend some time with friends and general fitness. Is it ok that I have no intention of riding a sub 4 Argus, let alone a sub 3?

My wife and I ride to spent time together and fitness and and and.

We both decided before hand that we are going to do this together, so and if a sub 4 is not something you want to do, then don't.

Cycling should be fun, not work!

As said before, it makes me feel like a kid all over again!!

When I'm going through a piece of track as quickly as I can, I forget all about anything that could possibly weigh me down (figuratively...) and just can't help smiling!

Life is GOOD!
