Hi guys,

Just to let you all know that the nominations process has come to an end, and once all was counted, there were 9 nomination e-mails, resulting in 9 lucky individuals who were nominated to the TokaiMTB committee for the year of 2015.

Notices will be going out to those nominated, and they will need to indicate whether they are prepared to run for a position on the TokaiMTB committee. The cut-off for this process is 6th February.

Once that process has been completed, and the final shortlist has been compiled, a list of the Nominees will be posted here, and on the Tokai Trail Builders Association and Tokai MTB Facebook page.

Please remember that in order to vote for your preferred committee member to be in the Committee, you need to be present at the AGM, which is being held on 18th February at the River Club in Observatory @ 17h30.

In order for a Nominee to be eligible for a position on the Committee, they too need to be there for the AGM.

Remember - NO proxy votes allowed. You MUST be there to vote.

On the evening, each Nominee will get an opportunity to tell us a little bit about themselves and why they believe they will be a good fit for the committee. You will then be given a small form with 5 blank spaces, where you will indicate your chosen committee members.

Portfolios will not be assigned at the AGM, these will be decided by the committee itself when it meets for the first time following the AGM.

Thanks all for your participation, and I expect to see you at the River Club on the 18th to vote for your committee members.

Thank you to the following people who have accepted nomination to be on the 2015 Tokai MTB committee.

Dan Dobinson   (iRide Africa)

Deon De Villiers (deondv)

Jason Lind

Mark Smith (marko35s)

Myles Mayhew (me)

Tim Price (Headshot)

Vince Muir

Following the report back and presentation of the proposed Trail Map and Project Charter document each nominee will have a 1 minute slot to motivate members of the riding public why they should be on the committee. Thereafter a vote will take place and the new committee members announced. Portfolio's will be decided by the committee at the first meeting.

Nominees MUST be physically present at the meeting if they are to serve on the 2015 Tokai MTB Committee.

I dont understand how the feedback and the 1min presentation can happen on the same night. I would expect that incumbents be aware of the issues facing the committee, and then have a reasonable amount of time to prepare for their 1 min presentation. Anything else simple devolves to voting for a personality as opposed to voting for someone with a plan or strategy.

Capricorn afaik both Dan and Deon are standing for re-election, whilst Myles, Mark, Tim and Vince are Tokai Build Day regulars and have some knowledge of the issues facing the committee. Also the outgoing committee will assist the new committee for the first month or two.

Myles/El Capitan is Jason the Jason of Olympic Cycles?

Yes...

But, I know where Cap is coming from. The guys who are being standing should know what the background is before saying what they will be able to bring to the table... some of which is only evident to those dealing directly with Parks.

Thanks for the confirmation.

At least the guys standing for election aren't going into it entirely blind. Which is my point, although I also get what Capricorn is pointing out. A clear vision leads to a clear mission.

Personally I think that it would be good to have some continuity and for Dan and Deon to be re-elected as that should help with Parks but what happens on the night only the attendees can vouch for. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the AGM.

Yeah, 100%

FWIW - I was also there pre-2014, albeit not officially... so i do kinda know the ins and outs.

Yeah I think it's fair to say that all the guys on the list have, to one degree or another, a little insight and realize that dealing with Sanparks can be a little frustrating.

Hi Hubbers, Just a reminder that the feedback/2015 TokaiMTB committee selection is happening tonight at the Riverclub at 18:30pm. We hope to see you there as we'd like to let the riding public know what we've learnt over the past year, what we've done and what the plans are for Tokai.
