Catatonic_Joe Posted January 30, 2015 Share Hello Before I get flamed, I've never been a fan of the wheel size debate and never cared much for wheels sizes, only reason I upgraded last year to 650b was because I was worried about the scarcity of 26er tyres/spares etc. I've never ridden a 29er, and was never a fan of them, these tests haven't really swayed me... I just think they're interesting. I'm going home now... have a great weekend! And sorry if this has been posted before. Part 1: Part 2:
Erroli8a8 Posted January 30, 2015 Share interesting. time is the important thing and the 29er was fastest. No question 29er.
GoLefty!! Posted January 30, 2015 Share "if you look at it scientific terms there was no difference between the 26, 27.5 and 29 inch wheels" "but if you look at the real world times the 29er is faster...." sounds like a scientist that's conflicted because the journo's needed a specific outcome
GoLefty!! Posted January 30, 2015 Share There cannot be no statistical difference whilst also being fastest. there is either no difference or there is. conclusion: wheel size debating is a load of marketing crap

RocknRolla Posted January 30, 2015 Share The only significant difference i have been able to discern between my 26er and my 29er is that the 29er does not corner as tight as the 26er. I am also faster on the 29er, but that is because i have been training more, and am fitter than whe i last rode the same trails on my 26er. J∆kk∆ls Posted January 30, 2015 Share Road my mates 29'er and it is faster. Still prefer 26' and I have a road bike if I'm in the mood for speed.
Hairy Posted January 30, 2015 Share 29er is Lekker fast when going in a straight line. Thank goodness my local trails have tight switchbacks.....my 26'er loves them. I measure a ride in fun not speed on a straight gravel Road......Just saying from my point of view.
