Good luck everyone!

I have never seen so many bicycles racked up in one place!!

Awesome sight!

Heard the commentator mention a combined value of R150 000 000.00!!!

Holy moly.

Average of R50k per bike is somewhat wishful thinking. The real answer is rather less but still very significant. Maybe R40-50m at market value.

The peletons I saw today were larger than that at TDF....

The little 20 km turn around was not clever..

The getting bike out after the event was diabolical...

However, it was a privilege to do it....

The referees tried hard to minimize the drafting, but just too many people on the road. I went past a group of 6 or 7 guys who shouted out when a motorbike was approaching and spilt up, don't really see the point in riding in a bunch when you're doing these events, these guys were miles away from being age group contenders!!

Otherwise checked out bike with no hassles. A few teething problems, but otherwise I thought everything was done well, and I've done a few IM events here, Europe, Far East... Good days out, but aching now...

Was tough in the wind and learnt a lot from my first. Also noticed a lot of drafting.. mostly in groups going the other way!

Refs were good and clear in their instructions.

Had a tough run, glad to have finished and enjoyed the beers after

Will be back!

Edit, my time 6.05

I am no longer a IM 70.3 virgin ????????

Very happy to get my swim under the planned time of 55min (I just wanted to finish) 49min

Cycle wasn't really as flat as advertised but happy with a 3:09. At one point it looked like the Argus and some okes don't like it when you tell them to keep left

My run was horrible as I don't do well in heat, my feet was burning from about 5k, but got in at 2:54

Ended up with a 7h12

Not bad for a first timer (was my first triathlon ever)

Well done to all who completed!

I found it fine going out, but got hammered on the way in, wrong place wrong time... A big wave landed on me, and I just rolled for what seemed like ages. Otherwise not too bad.

Likewise. I actually lost my goggles coming in. I broke the rule of not watching the waves. So my last 200m felt like hell.

On a tangent, running on a flat is seriously tough when you're not used to it. Your muscles never change the workload. I definitely entered the hurt locker.

But stoked with my 5h21. Particularly after my 40min swim!
