Now not too be funny but this is what it feels like when I take jumps...

Hence I try not going airborne...(which sucks)

Tips on how to avoid this??

skill or setting tips PLEASE!!!! what am I missing???

When I tackle new jumps I take them at moderate speeds first.

Maybe soak them a little and treat them kinda like drops instead of pumping off them.

Just to get a sense of the landing. Then gradually pick up speeds once I get a feel for it.

Clearing or gaps are a different story though.

There are some jumps in Tokai bigger than jumps elsewhere I would not rush into.

I do them simply because I ride them often enough and know what to expect.

But there are still certain parts of Tokai I second guess myself on.

Can't seem to get to right, or simply too chicken to attempt over and over again.

Even if I've done them before.

For me its just a case of get them under my belt.

Land it safely enough times before I try and do it like its meant to be done.

Tips from guys who know better realy help too.

I often watch guys who seem to have it waxed to give me a few pointers.

or even better have them watch me attempt it and tell me what I may be doing wrong

Damn, sounds similar to me last week as far as the injury and the speed of impact is concerned. However just a grazed arm and back, but my lower back damn!!. I usually ride with my backpack as well not this time. They do save you alot.

Well take it easy, and heal up. At least your bike not broken. Damn I need to get another bike!!!

Followed Kevin (trail n tar) down the top of Vasbyt yesterday. He was gone by the first corner, but following him helped. A bit.

But yeah - what you said!

This is a huge help for me too. Following the heroes. Riding the same line.

and just trying to keep up. Not easy though.

I am happy to report that my bent derailleur hanger is sorted - aside from a scratch or two on the derailleur that' s all that was wrong with the bike. A test ride in the street confirms that I can hold the bars and pull up on them. Relief.

There is something very quirky about this particular yump. May be the limited visibility and grass on it not sure.  Either way, I am happy to be relatively intact after such a big one.

Thanks for the wishes chaps.

Happy to show any local peeps around the green belt one evening including the terror jump. Just be aware its not a legal MTB trail, but has been my backyard for 20 years...

Haha! Otherwise known as the "I'm older than you and have done this a long time" defense.

;)
