And how much coffee did they drink today already?

RHR like max HR is individualistic

On average about 2 cups. I was on my 4th, yeah bit of a addict.

That will increase your heart rate all on its own

Best to take RHR first thing in the morning before you eat / drink and after you been to the loo

Don't worry, new studies showing that 4 cups or more a day are good for you

Just not good for your RHR tho...

Resting 48

Max 180 odd

age 40

But how quick do I get back to resting from max? not as quick as i'd like, which is the true measure of fitness...

I just want to chuck my bit in here.

Resting heart rate and max heart rate mean absolutely nothing if you have a poor lactate threshold .

And that  is the problem most folks sit with .

Can you improve your LT  by training?

I have an abnormally low HR, aint that fit however my max heart rate is also lowish

Resting HR ; 38

Max HR : around 160 - 165

Age : 49

I aint that fit but traditionally always had a low HR. Even when completely out of shape and unfit it was 68 (about 18 months ago)

With the correct training yes

Edit: Speaking from personal experience, imo you don't really improve (increase) the lactate threshold value (measured in bpm) but rather you adapt to exercise at that intensity for longer periods, for example if your LTHR = 161 bpm initially you may only be able to exercise at that intensity for 30 minutes....as you get fitter and train at the correct intensities you will be able to exercise (tolerate) exercising at that intensity or slighter higher for longer...couple of hours if you lucky

Sorry for jumping in before Wyatt could respond to your question
