I went down at the Barone stand...guy stop dead in front of me while I was reaching for a barone from one of the pretty ladies...left hand not on brake lever,  right hand reaching to grab barone...swerved to avoid rider in front and front wheel slipped...yes you guesed it...on a barone...went down head first...saw some stars...aligned handle bars and saddle and continued the ride...

Talking about avoiding crashes.. I started in group 5 and all the way were bikers all over the road.. Like south African drivers on motorways

They think that they are the most Important person in the world and screw everyone else..

Very slow riders were in the middle of the road and in the right lanes making any decent peleton impossible as there was too much braking and avoiding these slow riders on the right..

Also riding down hills was a nightmare because of these selfish people

And those idiots riding 4 abreast curse you. You nearly caused many accidents forcing every one into single file to go around you

There is a really simple solution to your predicament: train harder to become faster to get a better seeding to start earlier to avoid the guys starting in 5 who are genuinely having fun.

Maybe you can even get into 1C and realise it's all the same, just quicker and then moan when a group of guys crash just in front of you.

@Sven137...what did you expect?? when 35k riders converge onto 47km's??

where must all the slow riders ride - single file down the LH side???

get serious...or rather go ride a MTB...much more relaxed and there most crashes are as a result of your OWN stupidity!!

Example

Existing bike : LHS = back and RHS = front

New bike : LHS = front and RHS = back

Instinctively grabs unintended brakes.

Not?

Sure, it just never crossed my mind that road bikes would have anything other than left front right back ....... makes sense then.

The guy going over the handlebars hit his head quite hard on the tarmac.

I was riding on his right. Wasn't a nice sight, or sound.

Hope your'e ok buddy.

He's fine, saw him in the hospitality tent numbing the pain with a few tinnies.

The left rear is a British thing that has been copied by Giant as factory setting on most of their bikes.

And yes, KC cartwheel guy was from the same place as the British and Irish Lions.

CarbonBoy what app did you use on your phone to track the data that you used on DashWare? Just curious because the end product looks really cool and i would love to get that on some of my videos. Thanks

I don't think there is a phone app that one can use as I also like to measure power and cadence, but I could be mistaken. Basically one needs to overlay the telemetry onto the video, and to do this in Dashware you need to export your activity data from your cycle computer into a file on your PC, and then synchronize this with your GoPro video, after which you can publish a combined video/telemetry version which you can then edit as you please.

Glad the rider was OK as he did take a pretty hard tumble! But I must say he did do quite a magnificent job of landing squarely on his backside and this preventing any damage to his lovely machine.
