Really disappointed to break my chain at the start of the race. Was really excited about the race. Well next year maybe!!

Thats why I ride with a Multi-tool that has a chain breaker on it, I have used it many times, helping other people.

Looks like a nice day weather wise, but will take whatever the race throws in my way

I had a nice day at the MTB . We had bottlenecks early in the A bunch (55km). Can only get worse later on.

I met Cav on the route. Nice to meet Cav and good luck with the hand.

Mark this in red in your planning: The traffic will be worse than last year. Everyone will try to be early and it doesn't appear to be organized much different to last year.

Same Talus! , the race didn't go my way due to the damaged ligaments in my hand. (the pain was so bad I thought of calling it quits at the second water point)

Luckily the road race can be done one handed.

Respect on finishing well even after the tumble and on a rigid!

We all saw that (A1 batch?) such a pity. Did you fix it and continue at least?

Slightly off topic but also on topic.

I can not see any improvement from last year regarding traffic(Roads). Did the MTB yesterday and my route of choice is N14 and getting off at Diepsloot. The road to the venue is the same as last year and congestion will again be in the order of the day for the people who will make use of this route. No way that both lanes can be used inbound.

Expect another traffic nightmare.

Pretty happy with the event. I was unable to participate in last years new route due to a 24 month "forced hiatus", but i can say now that this one is FAR better than ever before. A good variety of gravel road, singletrack, tunnels, bridges etc.

The awesome thing about racing in A batch is that everyone (well the front runners at least) seems to have a better manner and are far more courteous. I came up on a guy in some river singletrack in northern farm (guy in a Coach One shirt), and was happy to cruise through the section at his pace till things opened back up again, so didn't put him under any pressure by dragging a brake or back-pedaling. He shouted back "I'll move out of your way now !", even though he really didn't need to. we came out into the jeep tack, he pulled aside and i said thanks bud, and off i went.

Managed 22nd Overall and 8th in Sub Vet. Happy with that...
