Can't wait for this ride, I had a tough ride with the last ride I did, this one I should be better prepared, taking it easy this week, training done and nothing to gain. Seems like the rain should clear by Saturday but I think it may still be quite muddy. Also rebuilt wheels completely so Hopefully should not have any spokes breaking, also new Cluster and Chain so all ready for the ride

I may have some space in my car for two people depending on the weather as my wife and daughter will only come with if it is a nice warm day. I travel from Plumstead through to Grabouw Saturday morning.

Has anyone done this race before? I want to do it but not so certain.

How technical is the 50km route? We did the Arabella Challenge on the weekend and the climbing was ok but the decnts was horrible with lots of loose rock and sand. I hate rock and sand.

I dont find it really technical, but it is one of the more technical races on the ppa calendar. Its also bloody tough, loads of climbing. If you are unsure, rather do the 25km. Thats still good fun.

Wasn't it like 1300m in the second 25km or something??  and the descent is fast and dangerous, Very 'rutty'

Have not done this ride before but from the profile and hiking in the area it seems it can get quite technical. Danger is also how fast you are willing to go and how courteous your fellow riders are of you if you are riding slower.

My Entry is in. THis race was my introduction to mountain biking back in 2001. Over the years the course layout has changed, but Grabouw remains one of my favourite rides.

Rumour has it (from the route coordinators) is that there are some changes to last year.

You can stll expect it to be lekker tough.

I'm out :)

After a rediculous repair bill at Gravel Travel last year, I've turned into a Fair Weather rider, instantly.

Looks to be a muddy sandpaper drivetrain chewing TruCape again this year with all the rain ;)

Enjoy!
