Trust me on this. If you think the price is steep this event is not aimed at you. Luckily we are spoiled for choice with a number of good valued events.

They have sent me 5 emails thus far. They have absolutely no interest in this race. Rich boys only want to get involved in races that allready have credibility.

Big fail. My opinion.

On the website there are 31 entries left out of a 100 - so they are about 70% sold out more than a month before the race?

This type of race is not my thing (unless someone sponsors me...) but I think there is definitely a market for this type of expensive but "luxurious" races aimed at the high end of the market - you just have to do it right, ASG seems to have a history of hit and miss when it comes to hosting races, but it might be to early to call this one a fail...

My problem with these type of events is that it is usually these races (events) that seem to feature on SuperCycling and other media.  This then gives a very distorted idea of what MTBing is all about.

I have yet to see SuperCycling show something of the real feeder events.  It seems to me that race sponsors drives what get shown on the media, and that only the high value events feature.

You guys have got it wrong.  The more people that do these types of 'upper class' events the better.

If the rich kids get used to 5 star accommodation and hot tubs after each day, maybe they will give tented races a skip.  Which in turn will open up a few spots on W2W, S2C etc for us mere mortals

Or heavily subscribed events like W2W suddenly become more expensive to keep the clientele.

Could go both ways.

Yip, absolutely right. More and more events now have VIP areas after the race for the fat bankers to have a beer and meal afterwards. While us normal okes get a warm coke, and a dent in our wallets.
