Respray frame - Yes or No ?

I don’t think there would be a scenario of right and wrong but rather a matter of opinion.

I would like to hear yours.

I have a carbon frame and some of the white paint has gone a bit yellow.  I believe it to be a common problem with the frame in question.

The question I ask is if you think I should have it touched up (just the effected part) or rather leave it as is.

The reason I’m nervous to touch it up is that when it comes time to sell and move to another frame, the re-spray could be seen as a cover up of a larger problem and the frame will be classified as re-sprayed.

In light of some of the discussions currently in hot debate on the forum about re-sprayed bikes and frame damage cover ups I’m a tad nervous.

Opinions please ladies and gentlemen ….

I'm not sure if any paint work will add value except possibly for the existing owner.

I've been ponderig something similar but also very sceptical.

Probably wouldn't if there's any thought of selling.

Or you could go for a Bogus job which should add value.

This option, for sure!  Hubbers know Bogus will never participate in a damaged frame cover-up.

Take a full series of pics of the frame before going in for the spray job and then a series of after pics .... that should assist in keeping the value, but as noted above, the real value will be your appreciation of the frame.

I had a white Momsen SL629, when the white started going a bit yellow I got some liquid polish from a guy that used it on his rubber duck/boat and it worked wonders.

Not sure of the product name, was clear liquid, on a rag and the lightest of rubs brought out the white instantly.

i'm also keen on painting a frame, never considered that it might be regarded as a "cover-up" by any potential buyers.

any chance that the paint artist would/could issue a certificate stating the condition that the frame was in prior to painting?

Polish it with a cutting polish first - might take the yellow layer off - I have some if you want to try - drop me a pm.
