nonky Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 The lower level Shimano shoes are GREAT, have a nice wide fit and they throw in free cleats, if I recall correctly.
dre Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 As many above I can vouch for the toughness of Olympic. They are stiff and will last a few years. Have been using them as my spinning shoe for the last two years or so. Not the most comfortable shoe to walk in though (so carry the necessary spares so you don't have to walk back to the car)

I got them from Cajees at Princess Crossing (now at Horizon view or somewhere near Westgate, the shop looks 1000x better now). A bit scruffy currently, I sometimes just spray a bit of upholstery cleaner on them and brush off, but the material is still 100% as is the plastic/rubber coating on the heel and toe sections. I just need to buy a new inner as the original one is pretty much wafer thin now! I have done a 5 or 6km push-a-bike before with them and had no problems walking.

But then again, I am prone to losing the plot a bit these days. I was about to buy a new pair - will need to double-check this before I do.Clothing and apparel attracts duty - you were v lucky to get away with it!

Currently on a set of Specialized Tahoe (discontinued) shoes for around a year & they are very comfy & so far durable.

They are comfortable, a great fit, very lightweight and have stiff soles. Only slight criticism that could be levelled at them is that the lugs are hard and don't grip too well when walking over wet rocks.
