With a 4h30 bike I guess? :D

I'm still trying to figure out what's the best: go hard on the bike OR hard on the run OR (in my case) average speeds on both bike and run. I guess it depends what you're good at.

Hie-hie, nope, think I coupled it with a 7.30 bike as well, finished in 16.29 or something. Had a struggle with my injuries on the bike that day as well, stopped and helped people fix punctures, a chain etc.

For me, pace it across the board and finish in 16.59.59.

Jeesh, I just gotto beat 13 hours this year. Did a 13h02 in 2013, so was so close. Maybe I must just stop braai-ing in transition...

Yep transitions have a habit of consuming time, its amazing how quick time goes while you are busy transitioning.... and if you are a border line case for the hour mark i.e. finish a few minutes after the hour like 13:02 (12:58 would sound so much better) you can kick yourself afterwards when you add up all your transition times....been there done that

Water points as well... stopping at a water point on the bike.... big waste of time... same on the run...so many water points and the temptation to walk through them is always there...

All these small times lost add up...

7:39 here.... I win I win :)  my knee was size of a soccerball at the end.

Hehe. It's always a toss up what's gonna hurt the most on the day: your arse on the bike or the knees on the run. So far, my knees have always won on the pain stakes.

Absolutely. Just never stop moving forward. Sounds stupid, but every time you stop, you need to make that time up again. So ja, this year I'll try to be a bit more efficient. :D

But having said that, I just luv the banter with the other guys in transition and at water points, so it normally ends up in a 10 minute discussion on some arb topic with someone you've never met before. And hey presto, there goes your 13 hour target. Can't promise it wont happen again. :whistling:

Well done, we must be the only 2 guys bragging about how slow we are  :w00t:

I passed out twice before I got to bed. Once on the way to the car ( I was walking between my wife and brother-in-law who supported me and I remember saying to them " Ek gaan nou uitpass" and dropped to the curb) and again when we got out at home. I was completely spent!

haha... I was sort of ok at the end , my knee was the issue.  I even got a lekker hug from Jodie swallow but at the time I had no idea who she was.....

This year I hope to miss the hug and have mixed feelings about that :)

Haha! I did the same when collecting my bike from the bike park. Had this incredible urge to take a nap. So I did. Right there next to my bike. Was really pissed when a bike attendant interrupted my well earned snooze...

Check your IM mag. Mark Allen wrote an article on it. For the most part fast runners win, but in recent years with Kienle and Frodeno there were anomalies where strongest bike won...

I love the way you assume he has an IM mag!

hahahaha..... But yes, strong runners generally have the upper hand but like I said, in the elite is is not always so cut and dry as the margins are minutes, not tens of minutes.

..... 22.5 degrees with no wind. Anyway that was the order I placed. :P (please let there be no wind please let there be no wind please let there be no wind.....)

Is 22 c with no wind an actual possibility?
