Some questions answered:

Parking and starting blocks:

Parking has been arranged at the River End Parking area of SuperSport Park, which riders must access from the John Vorster off-ramp from the N1.

Riders must follow West Street towards SuperSport Park and will be ushered into the parking areas which start just before the starting blocks in West Road.

The starting chutes are being set up in West Road up to the South Road Intersection.

The northbound direction on West Road is being blocked off to traffic from Lenchen Road to the River End parking entrance.

VIP Parking is inside the Centurion Rugby Club grounds and can be accessed through West Road. Metro police will safely guide VIP entrants across the flow of cyclists throughout the day.

Overflow parking will be in the Makro shopping centre.

Finish

The finish line is in the southbound direction of West Road, in other words contra flow to the normal traffic direction.

After coming off the Ben Schoeman Freeway onto Jean Road, riders turn right into Lenchen and then left into West Road (in the direction of what is normally oncoming traffic).

The finish line is 250 metres after the left turn into West Road shortly before the entrance into the Centurion Rugby Club.

Prize Giving

Prize giving will take place at 12h00 in the VIP area at the Centurion Rugby Club.

Pretoria Gesinsfees

All riders receive free entrance into the Pretoria Gesinsfees, which is hosted at SuperSport Park on Sunday. Riders have to take their race numbers with them to the entrance gates to get free entry.

To buy tickets for friends and family at R50 each visit www.gesinsfees.co.za. Kids enter for free.

Route logistics

The route starts in West Road, turns right into Lenchen, left into Jean Avenue and then links up with the Ben Schoeman Freeway.

The left lane of the Ben Schoeman Freeway will be coned off for cyclists to use all the way to the N14 interchange. Riders take the slipway onto the N14.

On the N14 Metro Police will effect a changeover for cyclists onto the right hand lane, which is coned off and reserved all the way to Krugersdorp and back.

On the way back, metro police will again effect a changeover at the Pretoria West off-ramp. Cars will be forced to take the off-ramp to allow cyclists to move over to the left hand side of the road.

Riders will then stay left for the remainder of the N14 Freeway as well as on the Ben Schoeman Freeway back to Jean avenue, which is all coned off.

Once riders take the Jean Avenue off-ramp they are part of normal traffic all the way until they take the left turn into the finishing straight in West Avenue (contra flow to traffic!).

The southbound direction in West Avenue will remain closed all the way to the River End Parking area, allowing protection for cyclists until they reach their vehicles.

This is the first Capital Classic, so there's no Strava route to share (that I've seen). They have a route profile graphic on this page though: http://www.capitalclassic.co.za/route.html

I'll be there, in GL, on a 29er, so I'll be burning matches all day :P

Good luck with that bud...I think that it is going to be a tough day on the road bikes, I hope you at least have slicks... ;)

Hehe, no, I've got Maxxis Crossmarks on my bike. You'd be surprised how often people ask that, or comment when they see me with knobblies :P But I ride for fun, not to compete, so I dont mind the hard work. Whatever time I get, is the time I get. That said, I'm fairly competent on my 29er, for a weekend warrior that is. I average about 26.5km/h on my club rides (65km, 700m), and I managed 33.67km/h at the Emperors Palace (50km though, so it's not a good indicator).

Best of luck to you too, have a fast, safe one.
