This is typically how I feel after a 300/400 km Audax Spidey. Which is what you have done, but with a HUUUGE amount of climbing!!

When I did the ride I thought a lot about the Audax guys.

Marius also does these insane long 400+ rides that he posts on FB down in the Cape.  And I just thought what a big woes I am suffering on 300km vs. you Audax guys doing it fairly regularly for much, much longer.

Realised how much respect you Auax boys really deserve.  :)

Together with the IM crowd as well that does these insane distances.

Thanks everyone.

Now go out and top that!!

So in the case that someone would be brave enough to try this, what kind of route / climb is best?

A longish 1 - 2 km gradual gradient < 5% I'm guessing ?

Are you allowed to do a circular type route or must it be a out n back repeat?

Not allowed a circular route, must be up and down. Cant do half efforts.

No circular allowed, only up and down.

Fine line......you want something that will not kill the legs (8-10% gradients)

Shorter climbs you have to do more reps = more boredom.

Longer climbs less reps but the legs might get tired more easily if you don't rest often on the decent.  Also a climb like Klapperkop is long and gradient is around 3%......So not many reps but LONG distance and TIME in the saddle.....

You have to look what type of climbing suits you as individual the best and work from there.

I still want to go do it at Magoebaskloof.  The climb in SA with the most accent in the shortest distance.

Might kill the legs though but a pretty ride none the less.

Nice one

How does it work as a team? y'all ride together or take turns?

We are riding it with/against each other. Nothing better than dishing out pain to your mates all day!

Dont want to be that guy getting dropped on lap 17 :P
