I happened to walk past the Orbea Concept Store in Green Point earlier today and decided to pop in and see what they are up to. Actually the bright green Rallon in the window display got my attention and lured me into the store.

Orbea are based in the old Swift store at Shop no.5, Portside, Somerset Road should you be wanting specific details RE address, or if you just can't find it .... the store is a hole in the wall, albeit a lovely hole in the wall.

The store is well stocked with really beautiful bikes and some triathlon specific Orca wet suits. This is not why I walked in though, the Rallon is what called me in.

On entry I was met by David, who was more than happy to show me around and talk shop.

So I am tight on time and wont bore you with the detail on just how awesome the bikes looked or the great the service in store, instead I will load up a couple of happy snaps and you can visit them yourself to view the bikes.

Does one require a second mortgage to buy a bike here?

Funny enough no.

No more than any other bike one buys new these days.

That Orbea Fallon has got some rave reviews in all the overseas magazines I have read.

Could you indicate the price they were advertised for. Ballpark figure.

No idea ..... or rather can't recall any specifics.

Give them a call on 021 439 5116 - David

Now I'm really looking forward to the Kona, Marin and GT concept stores. Orbea? What next, Hamleys?

Watch out for the Trek Concept Stores soon in SA ... they are coming back and are ready to put up a good fight.

Next they will be selling golf shirts with bike logos embroidered on so we can wear them with our khaki chinos and loafers

ill stick to my LBS es

That's fine, but you can't just find an Orbea at any LBS. This way a niche brand like Orbea are able to reach out to the public and push their product.

As a Concept Store it makes sense ..... this is not your run of the mill common Giant or Specialized bike shop.

My OH bought his Orbea over December from them. All good and shipped up to Joburg, but then he broke something, needed them to send a part and they totally failed on that front. They kept saying they'd get back to him and they never did. He eventually ordered it online via his sister in the UK. He's not a happy camper
