Need help!

I'm looking for any MTB group rides in the West Coast area or Northern Subs, Cape Town. I feel that the Tygerberg MTB club membership fees are a bit steep considering no pro-rata payment available until the end of the year but am willing to join a club if the rates are reasonable.

Otherwise, looking for lekker trails to ride that are safe and open to non-members.

Thanks!

pro rata rates usually kick in from June or July if I'm not mistaken.

Tygerberg MTB fees are actually very reasonable, a day pass as selected farms in the area will cost you R30 a day per farm, you wonthave to ride much to make the annual fee work for you, not to mention the discounts you can get with your membership card.

 There, I fixed it.

 There, I fixed it.

From the TMTB website

"anks to I-Ride for our upadted Maps. Please note all areas in Orange are Members Only.

If you are not a member of the Tygerberg Mountainbike Club with a Valid bike board fixed to your

handlebars you are not allowed to ride on those sections.

Meerendal, Contermanskloof, and Hoogekraal have a day permit system R30 per trail.

Meerendal Honesty box is at the Deli

Contermanskloof has its honestybox at the wooden shed at the parking lot.

Hoogekraal in the brick pillar at the parking lot.

Enjoy the trails.

The green corridors are a member’s only privilege, and not open to members of the public.

I can highly recommend the annual fee's for Tygerberg trails, since you will make up the amount in a very short space of time. If you ride from Hoogekraal over to Contermans and then over to Meerendal, that would cost you R120.00 for all three farms, PLUS, you will NOT be allowed to use the corridors, so a LOT of tar would be involved in that route. Hence the justification for riding as a club member.

To me, the BIGGEST reason I joined, is knowing that Patrick and his trail gnomes are going to be out over the next few months building new awesomeness and fixing and maintaining existing trails using the well deserved funds that come from our membership fees. Without these fine gents being willing to slog it out in the heat, and now rain, on our behalf, we won't have any decent trails to ride. It kind of makes up my mind for me really.

So, if you feel that a membership fee is too much to justify riding some really spectacular trails ( parts of which are members only - and those are the best parts ), well then, you can always go ride Koeberg...for free

Okay, I stand corrected, since I no longer pay these fees as a member.

BUT, I did see that the honesty box tickets at Contermanskloof are now R40.00?  Can anyone confirm?

ja I'm also a member so not sure.

Also agree with you about value for money re annual membership. No other place in greater CT area with that much variety and single track. If you ride all the trails in one go you will hardly touch tar and I reckon 70% (?) will be on single track. Plus you will be properly stuffed from tons of climbing and descending. But yes if you're looking for a freeby there is always Koeberg (YAWN!)

Yes, Contermanskloof has gone up to R40. The rest are still R30.

The current fee for a main member is R590. Last year the discounted fee from June was R420. It's not a real pro rata fee.

As far as I can remember the pro-rata fee also only kicked in from October. I know since that was when I joined. I also was of the thought that the fees were a bit on the high side. But now that I bit the bullet, it is worth every cent and more.

Correct that Contermans is now charging R40 but of all the farms, they have the longest network with the best singletrack.

We're trying out a R50 permit which covers Bloemendal, Bloemendaaler, Nitida and Hillcrest. It will be sold from the parking lot at Bloemendal lower (next to Bon Amis) from 7:30am to 2pm this long weekend. If the demand is great enough, we'll keep selling going forward. A R30 permit is also being sold which covers Bloemendal south of the road (including B-spot, lombards terra,..)

Word of warning: the Bloemendaaler is wild and woolly at the moment but we're scheduled to get some more maintenance going now that the rains have finally arrived.
