Hopefully I can get the advice here without starting an entire new thread.

I am currently in the market for an indoor trainer and although budget isn't so much the issue, I don't intend on throwing away money to be part of manhood size competition.

Over the festive period, I was loaned my BIL's Cycleops Powerbeam Pro, he was away and wanted to make sure I didn't slack off in his absence. I must say, setting up was a breeze and once I switched from my iPad2 to my iPad3 (took a while to RTFM), the software worked perfectly. I was fortunate that the length of the trial period was the length of the loan so no outlay there.

I did a few of the IM routes that I will never get to in person and on some, the video option was excellent (a 10mb ADSL helps as well). Overall I was enjoying the experience.

But.....yep, the inevitable BUT..... one thing that bothered me was the occasional "slip" when the climbs started. At first I thought I had the physical set up wrong and checked that out, I RTFM and confirmed all was in order and as it should be but still the "slip" happened.

So I am looking for some Forum wisdom here - do they all slip? how do you stop the slip? Am I (as a relative novice) looking at the wrong equipment?

Thanks in anticipation

Also have a ? Regarding IDT - are there any agents that offer a demo, try out service? I don't want a fancy smancy one, but never having used one by myself tho I keeping thinking it may work for me, I want to try one out before making the plunge.

From reading the threads it seems most agents are based in JNB but I'm down in the city with a big molehill in the middle so was wondering if anyone has had any experience renting, loaning one from an agent?

I would suggest you go to youre LBS and ask if they might have a demo or know of someone who has a trainer and would let you try it out.I did this and one of the guys at my LBS had a trainer that he let me have a go on.

Hi all

Going to revive this thread.

Looking for in indoor trainer with.

1. Integrate with iPad as control device/display

Remove rear wheel, need to accept 12x142 rear axle setup.

Software wise would be nice if i can

1. download routes,

2. join virtual rides,

3. take Garmin GPS files and convert/import to create a route which will define the resistance applied.

what else should I look at?

Looking at Real Turbo Muin - Elite, like what I'm seeing.
