No one seems to want the "hassle" of an FD and left shifter...

That's bigger than the disc rotor.

By the time it gets here it will probably cost more than an XX1 cassette, R4300 for 10spd and R4740 for 11spd with direct exchange rate.

The last press / article on this stated that these hope wide range cassette will be available from mid-Jan 2016. However, I cannot find more recent info or any stock on any online site. Does anyone know more / when these will be available?

I have a question.

On the road bike orientated threads, 2x11 is considered an essential "upgrade" by the "experts" as it apparently eliminates a critical gap beween 15 and 17 tooth gears.

However, the manne recon that 1x10 or 1x11 is the dog's bollocks despite the 20% gap between ratios.

How does one square this circle?

When your wheels never leave the ground, you don't pump the bike and you only ride on a low resistance surface prepared for wheels..THEN those gaps are important.

FDs are not everybody's cup of tea. They require skill to operate and some inteligence to undersand the technical issues vs. marketing hype of 1x ;)
