I'm sure many bike shops accept trade ins but you probably won't get the price you want for it. You better off selling it yourself

I'm gonna say upfront that i had a bike stolen last week, because otherwise i wouldn't expect anyone to believe what I'm about to say.

 

So I went to Neil's Wheels, the notorious bike laundryman of cape town, to go and see if mine would be there. to be dead honest it seems like he does more new bikes than 2nd hand now, BUT he will definitely take your 2nd hand bike.

Much like a car there'll be a trade price and a retail price and something in between.  The dealer, be it car or bike, will go as low as possible often below trade to maximise his profit.  So, if the extra pennies are important to you, sell it yourself.
