I have a set of Sram s80/s60 Combo's for sale. Apparently they are very strong. Bought them in April, but looking for a shallower set, which is why they are for sale.

These would be a good option. Been riding set of S60s for 2 years without issues and my mate who I got them from had them for 4-5 years before me. He said those were the best wheels he ever had and he weighs around 100kg. Think the are 10sp only though?

Thanx for the replies, appreciate it. Budget is about 12 to 15k, wife might shoot me otherwise. The Dura Aces are very nice but way over budget. The cosmics are a option then since they are in budget. Heard good things about those. I will look into the DT swiss, no real experience with them.

Thanx guys

AC Classic Carbon 58mm deepsections have a 114kg rider weight limit.

Cost is R12995.

Cosmics and Zipp both have a alu "rim" inside the carbon wheel that the spokes go into, which makes it much stronger, the Dura Ace has the spokes going straight into the carbon, and I know ZIPP also come with heavy duty spokes and various spoke counts.... they even cater for Tandems

Zipp has 3 types of rims, full carbon tubby, full carbon clincher or alu/carbon clincher. All of them have the nipples resting in the carbon and nipples are exposed, so the carbon has a structural importance. With the Alu/carbon clincher, the have an u shaped alu rm bonded to the carbon profile, the nipples are still resting in the carbon rim, so the carbon still has structural importance.

The Older (not newest) Mavic wheels used to be a basic alu rim with an carbon fairing. thee nipples rested in the alu rim, so the carbon had no structural importance, it was just a fairing.

I am building up some U shaped deep carbon rims at the moment.  Supposedly stronger than the usual V shaped of the same weight and initially designed for cyclocross use.  The supplier I have chosen will supply up to 55mm depth and 16 to 36 hole options.  With that you can build one strong mother of a wheel!

what rims - where did you get them?

At the lightest I am ever going to get I will still be north of 95kg, so these things are always top of mind. i have been lusting after a set of carbon road wheels for some time.

I have flashpoints which are the same wheel as the sram s60 from what i understand before it was branded sram. I am trying to convert to 11 speed. Check this link where the guys says he did do the conversion successfully. Reynolds freehub, looks to be the same hub to me as s60 and flash-points. I have ordered the reynolds 11 speed freehub to try do the conversion.

I have built rims from www.offthefrontracingsystems.com which are really nice rims.  The ones I have now are from www.light-bicycle.com.  They are also well reviewed.
