Ive recently bought myself my first dual sus MTB actually my very first MTB due too my lack of knowledge when it arrived from the previous owner i took it straight to my LBS for assembly and over all check up.

They were happy to report that everything was in order just needed to change tyre sealant and rear brake pad's.

Wen't for my first ride on some local single track yesterday, everything seemed to perform besides the general tinkering with my suspension setup. There are a million variations and don't know how i'll ever find that sweet spot!

I noticed a sound coming from the front wheel, turned it upside down gave it a spin and looks like the front rotor is slightly bent, brakes work perfectly but it is touching the pad on every rotation.

And also, when i got back home i noticed my reverb dropper post was behaving abnormally, if the post is fully down, and i pick up the bike under the seat the post will extend without use of the leaver, also when fully extended im able to push it right down with out the lever, with the sound of air coming from the headset area.

Lastly i had my chain jump off twice, something i'd prefer to not happen at all if possible...

Sorry for all the noob questions guys, but ive got to start somewhere.

The rotor can be trued using a small adjustable spanner, just tweak it gently away from where it touches the pad.

It sounds like the Reverb needs to be bled as it is hydraulically operated and probably has air in the system, worst case it may need a service...

Your guide looks like it may be missing a roller at the bottom, which would explain the chain dropping.

And +1 on the dropper needing a service.

Decent rig though, I know it and that fork's almost brand new...

youtube is your friend...  sweet ride though, enjoy her and welcome to the most addictive, salary destroying, rewarding hobby/ passion/ addiction there is..

always remember to keep it rubber side down and if you teach your kids to love cycling they will never have money for drugs :D

Yes! that's that roller thing i was thinking of where do i get one of those? even if the chain dropping is my fault, id like to reduce the chain slap.

Thanks for that! i know YouTube holds the answer to all it's just the terminology im still learning!

What caused the chain drop? Terrain or bad shifting?

You got me there, absolutely no idea. Probably bad shifting i did a few jumps and drop's prior and it stayed on.

was the chain maybe coming off on rough terrain when you did short / quick back pedaling and then powering down again?

You took to a bike shop for a check up and they missed all of those things? Surely they would have noticed the chain dropping and the bent rotor?

I was wondering the same thing. How could a bike shop miss all that?

My thought's Exactly and this was Greg Minnaar's shop.

In there defense, The dropper post only started playing up after my ride on Sunday.

I spoke to the previous owner and he too knew about the rotor but the point of impact was so tiny and had no effect on the rotation of the wheel. Which is true, but i can hear it which will drive me insane i can't just ignore it.

Is there really a "roller" part missing from the chain guide?

Some chain guides have rollers and some don't.

From the pic, its seems like the clutch on the derailleur is in the off position, maybe that could cause the chain jumping off?
