Crash -> neutralised by race director cars (riders slowed to 20km/h) - > Race director told peleton to race again, sky set tempo, being the demons they are -> Race director neutralises stage again 2 min later -> race director tells peleton to stop. -> Ambulances get back -> race starts again.

Absolute correct description of the events from the day. What a great eventful days racing.

That is exactly what and how it happened. . Cause I still made a post in the TDF thread..as it was unfolding.

Cheers, bud, that is exactly what I thought happened, but I did fall asleep for about 20mins and was confused by this thread...

Olffie1, you seem to know your cycling, so I have a question for you.

It is:

1. A question from the wife with whom I have been doing battle for the remote. She switches to Wimbledon, I turn it on to the tour - so it goes;

2. A serious question;

3. The first question she has EVER asked me about anything cycling related, so please, ffs, get it right.

Here it is.

Who burnt more calories today, Chris Froome or Andy Murray? Expressed differently: Does a competitive cyclist in the tour expend more or less energy than a top Wimbledon competitor?

All other hubbers are also invited to weigh in on this vexing question, whether they are disgusted with Froomie or not. (Note how I am retaining the topic applicability. Just)

Clearly Andy Murray. You know how hard it is to lift the three tons of baggage he seems to carry around with him everywhere??

Probably Andy Murray, all that crying really takes it out of you. :P

well the answer is simple.......the cyclist would! If your wife were to watch the race in progression she would notice a few points.

1) the cyclist eats and drinks consistently on a tour stage......not only for the day, but for tomorrow and the next day and the next, because he is burning so many calories and needs his body topped up.

2) what we do not see is how times a rider stops to urinate himself in a stage....only once you have been to the Tour do you notice.....this is for keeping his body topped up once again.

3) what we also do not see is that when the stage is finished they get into a team car or bus after competing a hard stage and travel to the next stage start which could 50 or 100 kms away. Ever travelled long distances after racing hard.....you will understand what I mean if you have.

Sup, You will understand then that the GC teams are racing one another, sorry for Fabian, but he is not a GC contender. All Sky were doing were controlling the front of the race. If they had not kept a tempo, then that would have allowed another GC team to take advantage.

If you watched yesterday, both Movistar and Astana need to make up some time, therefore you would not want to be caught napping at the front waiting for a crash when the race director has told you to race.

If Contador,Quintana or Nibali had fallen, there would have not been that risk as the GC teams would have sat up and the only real risk would have been the sprinters teams which the GC teams dont worry about. (Like if old Lancey boy had fallen, Ulrich would have stopped for a pie)

Forgot to add the colours of my kit, cause that seems important, I am a black, red, blue and white road cyclist. :P

I thought you were just trolling, but I now think you are actually being serious. Do you really think people are actually impressed by this? (In case you think the answer is yes, it's not)

Are you upset, because the stage didn't work out for you in the TDF fantasy comp?

He is new here, let us be friends. He has no clue that the Savage Train are the World Champions of PPA rides.

Obviously our opinions are inferior to the OP's, because as mentioned he's got a green and gold jersey. Seems logical.

actually not.....never been a troll .....and was not serious at all! However a I do recall the whole thread was about sportsmanship in an event that is the window to our sport.......as far as people been impressed.....I did that when I raced....and as far as the fantasy tour is concerned its a bit of fun which I thoroughly enjoy....win or lose! So, lets forget this incident....I have my opinion about the events of today and you have yours....which I respect by the way. Have a great evening and enjoy the rest of an action packed Tour.
