Chris_ Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 I think the nerves are starting up yes, our first omtom... What makes it worse is I am a bit loss about the strategy. Being our first, knowing I must not go out to hard (going out to hard breaks my wife especially), but not knowing how much I have to provide for that loaded second half, but then also not knowing what my wife's itb is going to do, especially on the downhills. So if we lose time on the ups and downs, then we're screwed, how do you build a pacing strategy with that... lol I'll say a special prayer for your wifes ITB on the day. Crashing down the other side of Constantia Nek is an ITB killer, the camber of the road is almost laughable. Pacing is tough because the first 21kms is the easiest thing you'll ever do, the more fun 'scenic' part of the run only starts thereafter. Its a great day, unbelievable vibe from the crowd. (I know I shouldn't even say this out loud..) but I really hope the weather plays ball. Good luck to everyone running! Lexx and Hacc 2

Thanks, I know it's prayers that it going to pull here through this one, not herself/us.I can already see how we walk the downhills and run all the ups. Enjoy it guys and travel safely Lexx 1
Jackes Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 It would've been really grand if they could give a map with the road closures for the omtom and not just a list with all the names.... Do you guys perhaps know how my folks will be able to reach Hout Bay after dropping us off at the start? I guess not over Constantia nek, or what route do they need to take? And then where in Hout Bay might be the best for them to set up camp for the day, nice spots, considering it is two elderleys with my two little ones, so preferably park close by the point where they can support?
Stretch Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 so they not very good with sending out information. Where is the start?

The only option for getting to Hout Bay will be via the Atlantic side past Llandudno down Suikerbossie on Victoria Road. If they want to hang in Hout Bay to watch you guys there, it would probably make the most sense for them to try and get near to the beach at the foot of Chapman's Peak. They would drive on Victoria road through Hout Bay turning left at the circle into Princess Street and then right into Mainstream Village entrance on mainstream avenue. (They would have to take this entrance as main road ahead will be closed to traffic.) Mainstream will wind its way round the mall and the next road to the right is sentinel. There are a few options here. Maybe a map will be better... There are plenty of options but this will be the best selection for being in Hout Bay. The closer they can get to the Vida or Dunes restaurant area to park, the closer they are to the beach for the kids to play on will they wait for you to come by. Jackes and Hacc 2

Andrew Steer Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 How are we all doing in taper week to OMTOM? I'm going to try to get more sleep this week! Yawning like a pro in the office today!I've actually upped my moderate/little training load this last week, but the 13km I did this morning will probably be my last... although I am toying with doing a little shuffle along this Seapoint prominade tomorrow... will go super slow and chilled! Drove down our stock yesterday on my own, always a long drive, set up our stand today and now heading out for dinner. Please come say howzit at our Expo stand (I don't expect you to buy anything, but would be good to put a face to the Avatars/names) And we do have some fun SA/Cape Town running tops which work lekker for training* *shameless punt Hope you're all feeling well rested, my legs are a bit tired, and standing all day at the expo the next few days won't help (I usually hit around 20 000 steps a day) - but hey, it's all time in the legs Excited for Sat, keep healthy, keep the legs rested! Hopefully see some of you at the Expo Lexx, Tubehunter, Stretch and 3 others 6
Tubehunter Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 (edited) Post a pic of the stand so we know where to find you! (How many randelas do we need to bring along to get a training top?) Edited April 11, 2017 by Tubehunter Andrew Steer 1

(How many randelas do we need to bring along to get a training top?)Anatomic Sportswear... look for beeg yellow banners. We're in the same block of stands as Salomon and Mizuno, to the left as you come out the Main merchandise stand into the exhibitors hall. We've tried to keep the shirts as reasonable as possible... range from R200 to lower R300's. I'm the younger guy that's going grey at a rapid rate of knots Tubehunter, candz1 and Stretch 3
Tubehunter Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Coming through Thursday late morning, just before lunch time. I'll check on Strava and see if you've posted some pics so I can recognise a fellow younger guy going grey.... Andrew Steer 1
