Second one for me. Will likely be running with a buddy, but will see how that pans out. Actually quite easy about goals, but after last year, main aim still is running comfortably and enjoying the day. If I sneak in close to 5:30 I'll be ecstatic, but realistically 4:45 about.

Weather will play it's part but thusfar it looks like it'll be a good day out.

Well done Jess. Barry beat you regret informing her about the strava group now?

OMTOM this weekend, who will be running their first or green number and for the rest what are your guys goals?

Ja, she's keeping the intensity low and the mileage high for the next month before she reintroduces speedwork and it seems to really be suiting her. She definitely thrives off more mileage than me. I'm going to have to get my butt into gear if I want to hang onto her at Comrades.

This OMTOM article from today, mentions Caroline.  I wonder how accurate/informed it is.

Big Names
The OMTOM Ultra Marathon will see a strong women’s field battling it out for the top spot next weekend. Caroline Wöstmann is back from injury and feeling confident that she will make a triumphant return. Jenna Challenor and Tanith Maxwell, who came 2nd and 3rd respectively in 2017, will also be back. Other exciting additions to the line-up include Dominika Stelmach from Poland (2017 Wings for Life World Run Winner), USA runner Lindsey Scherf (indoor marathon world record holder) and SA’s Gerda Steyn, who is looking for a top 3 position.

I really hope so, we need her at her best for the show down with Camille

OMTOM nr 5 for me (after this one I am half way! Yay!) No real goals, hoping for a good run and just enjoying the Cape vibes. I really struggled last year, so I am hoping for a better run this year.

I think there is a good chance that Gerda will take this one. She is in excellent form.

Nice , best of luck, but if i may ask, why the last?

My system might only be strong enough for one OMTOM. My friends want me to do 1 Comrades with them in 2019 because there will be a birthday boy(not me) in the group. So I have to prepare myself mentally for that before I can attempt another OMTOM.

Apologies Scott  -  THANK YOU :-)

I had a discussion a while back with tjommies3 regarding the logistics the morning of the race. Anybody want to offer some tips??

Ours is quite simple. No car to the start. We stay in a guest house about 1.5km from the start. We will leave there about 5:30 to take up a spot in our seeding block no later than 5:45. After the run it is a 1km walk back to the guest house (all down hill). Only catch is you have to book for 4 nights.

My main problem is that I have a small window to do very important things. The first (being most important) is that my prayer time is starting at 5:47. This prayer would take roughly 15 minutes, so it will mean that I can't line up right in front of my start batch. Then I don't know how strict they will be to let me in at the time I will get to the chutes.

The best I could come up with is to get dropped off.

I think you will manage okay. I've seen in previous years guys sneaking up from as far back as E batch, right to the front at A batch when they drop the the tape separating the seeding blocks.
