29" Wheelset for Giant Anthem

I'm in the market for a new wheelset, but I cannot decide between the following 3:

 

1. American Classic Wide Lightning +- R7995

 

2. Crank Brothers Cobalt2 +- R8995

 

3. Mavic Crossride +- R4000

 

Maybe you guys can give me some advice and help me decide? I'm open to other suggestions in more or less the same price range.

 

I do mostly XC and races like the Trailseeker Series. I weigh 88kg.

Hope crest/arch from CWC at R5500 at the moment.

 

I went for a set of 30mm Chinese carbon wheels from Yishunbike for about USD 600.... they're awesome. 1550g for the set.

 

Oh... and I weigh 110kgs.

Hi. I put on a set of normal American Classics when I bought my Anthem almost 2 years ago. Not one problem. I would also recommend you consider the Arch Rims and Hope Hubs from CWC...

I've got a set of crossrides on my Trance, no complaints.

Hope crest/arch from CWC is a good dead.

Option 1. Great rims ok hubs but easy to service.

 

Option 2. Great concept but lots of proprietary parts making it less easy to service.

 

Option 3: then less said the better.

 

 

For me option 1 wins

Wide lightning. End of story. 10mm wider than crests, which translates into tons more traction and tyre stability. Plus, they're brilliant rims.

Wide lightnings ftw, I had WTB i23's on a novetec rear hub and front X9 hub. Awesome wheelset. Could go i25 for more width.

WTB's have the best bead lock I have yet experienced.

Anthem being more for XC, dont go too wide.

Rims are not the major thing, I think the hope hubs are a much better long term choice than the hubs of the AC

According to the CWC website, the ZTR Arch comes with QR. Will I need an adapter to fit the Anthem which is thru axle in front?

Thanks I see they sell the conversion kit. Ordering the ZTR ARCH wheelset now, will try them out next weekend at Hakahana!

They Will Supply the wheel set with what ever cofig you need on the hubs. just specify in the comments when you order. no need to order the conversion kit.
