For those that don't want to get sick before Sunday.

  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Don't touch your face (thats how gems get in)
  • Drink lots of water
  • Eat like a boss
  • Get lots of sleep
  • Take 1000 mg VitaminC daily

Thanks for Tips ^_^

I will keep everyone out of my personal bubble.

Always a struggle during this time of year. My 13 year old daughter is coming down with something, and is took a lot of explaining why Daddy is only kissing her on the forehead for the rest of the week!

Ask any Vet 30-39 how quickly a 4 minute gap can be closed against the Elites.

It's happened as recently as last weekend (21st). All depends on how the Elites approach the first hour of racing.

We (VA) caught the elites at carnival city last weekend and where allowed to pass them. They then had attacks and where allowed to pass us. We basically just had them a few min up the road the rest of the day while picking up the dropped guys. The comms had their hands full trying to get the dropped elites out our group.

Edit. I see Gerald already mentioned it.

Just had a look at the results from the Carnival City race and I can't see a single big name (Pro) in the elite's so unless I'm missing something you can't remotely compare.

Not sure where they were all hiding, maybe doing the PPA tour?

Edit: Just realized they were all having a rest before the Tour of Good Hope

don't. droplets from coughs and sneezes deflect off the hand all over the face.

May be so but it happened last year as well. I'm not sure what the times where like compared to last year. Would be interesting to see if the winning time this year was a lot slower.

But TBH the VA bunch had an attack on the start line from Egon and you simply can't let a guy like him go. It was a very fast first hour. When you are the likes of clover and complete going full tilt to catch him you know it's going to be quick. As soon as we caught him the counters started. You might find the elite attacks only happened once we caught them.

Just checked, times were close only 2mins between 2015 & 2016 but again no big names in 2015 due to the Tour de Boland.

No disrespect to the VA's but you can't compare with the big boys at SA Champs just over 2 weeks ago we put 5mins into the VA bunch in 16kms. A few of the top Complete Cyclist guys rode elite and the comments after the first lap were a good laugh, a whole lot of "^$&" along with this makes vets racing look like a joke and what the $#^$% have I got myself into. None of them lasted more than a 100km if I remember correctly. The scary part is that there were a few who were sill idling because when Louis attacked at 130km he made me look like I had never ridden a bike in my life. :cursing:
