Specialized- Think twice

I think the OP wanted the original owner of the Orange frame to claim from Spez and then the OP wanted to dictate what the colour of the replacement frame should be. He didn't own the frame as yet but wanted to call the shots already.

What the OP should've done is let the original owner claim for the frame and also let the original owner state that they want to upgrade to an S-werks frame as replacement. The OP shouldn't have gotten involved in the whole claims process. Let the original owner claim and pick up the S-werks frame a week later and Bob's your uncle.

Oh and one more thing OP. You lost me @

"I have purchased 3 mountain bikes within the last year, Specialized Epic Comp, Elite & Expert for me & two sons,

So handed over serious money, for some serious machines, all cash purchase to dealer,"

I don't take well to boasting about ones financial "power". Not lekke!

I have dealt with Graham a while back and he seems like a lekke oke. Chatted about the new shop and the Stumpy\Camber and which one will fit my requirements.

Perhaps money was exchanged already. I cannot for the life of me imagine that a prospective buyer would go through so much trouble. All speculation of course, but suspect, none the less.

Come to think of it this makes "a bit" more sense. If this is the case I think the OP should count himself lucky even getting a replacement frame, being it white, orange or S-red.

It was difficult to read and understand the opening post because of the incomprehensible sms speak in which almost every sentence is couched. If you are going to take the time to come and bitch about a LBS / brand / your Mother In Law, at least pay some attention to telling the story properly.

Agreed. It was like reading a message typed on a Nokia 3310.

Nothing galvanises the Hub community quite like a real or perceived attack on either Spez or Pyga.

How about a debate as to which of those two brands is the real alpha dog????

I mean we're only a few hours away from it being Friday.

We say that in SA we are Spez sluts, till you look at some stats. There was only marginally more SA riders riding Spez at Epic this year compared to the rest of the world, where as SA has 3 times as many guys riding Cruz at Epic than the rest of the world... So proportionally we are actually Cruz Sluts ;)

Haha...you really wanna stir the pot. Leave Pyga out of this alleged mess.

Don't think this is the full story as the Specialized Graham I know and deal with very often is one of the most kind hearted people in the cycling community, always ready to give expert advice and guidance in a non aggressive way. Specialized Centurion is one of the best cycle shops in Gauteng even though they are still one of the "youngest''. Their white frames are also one of the most beautiful colours in all its plainness but i geuss ''smaak'' is something everyone has a opinion to. They always try to give you their best price possible to keep the customer happy and their service department are the only to work on my bike if I can't fix it myself thanks to Sergio and the team. Branch manager Gert always makes sure his customers are happy even when they are already thrilled with the awesome experience and quality of the end product.

I am not one if the brightest people but it seems easy

1-Deal with one shop not two?

2-Maybe it's not the product but the user.....

3-A bad experience does not make the product bad. Think about all the great experiences

4-If it's the case that Graham is the problem (which I highly doubt) rather use Lynnwood or Melrose Arch.

I can't see how this is the Centurion specialized which you dealed with because they are TOPS

Treat others how you want to be treated. I'm pretty sure we are hearing one side of the story here.

I have dealt with Graham and Centurion Cyclery on numerous occasions since they opened and will continue to do so as I have never found a more professional outfit in the Pretoria area.

Gert, Graham and their team has always met and exceeded all my expectations. Even when servicing non specialized bikes there. This store is not just about the product, but mostly about the experience! And it is the experience that will make me go back time and time again! Keep up the good work guys!

Just to stick my prong in here, I've had Specialized bikes since 2007; my SL2 S-Works of that vintage is still going strong. My 2010 Epic S-Works broke once in SA and was replaced no problem; then again in New Zealand where again it was replaced 'no questions asked'. So I think the brand is just fine and stands by its product, no matter where you're at.
