geraldm24....Any chance you guys are going to be the pioneers of letting us print our own numbers instead of driving to a bike shop?

You know you want to.

Show them how it is done! :whistling:

I would love to say it's possible but it's currently being blocked by the race officials.

However, I have another solution that I think will work even better (I just need to get through the next few months). Emperors Classic is now also on my plate...

I got excited and thought that maybe it has been taken away from ASG (like the way they stole it from the Edenvale club), but alas, I still see it is still on their website.

It's a side plate... very small roll, behind the scene kind of involvement.

Ahh man how cool would it have been if ASG had been dumped. Entry fee halved and much better organisation. One can only dream as this one is on my doorstep. Luckily I ride to and from the start because with such a steep entry I can't afford the fuel[emoji1]

Gatvol of being seeded in the wrong group and find yourself in different groups at different races?

Well let me take the time to explain how we will seed the race:

1. Upon entering, you have the option to include your current PPA/Cycle Events seeding. As long as you provide it, we don't need to ask them for permission to use it (it's your data provided by you). The PAIA (Access to Information Act) requires you to give permission to use data, which is why we have to ask.

2. If you did last year's event, then you'll have a time and index value based on the winning time for each distance.

3. You will also have the option to include your 947 and Argus times.

With the above data, we take the BEST result and seed everyone accordingly.

Don't think that you can cheat and add a lower value, as I have a way to double check.

The placing in groups is then dependant on the number of entries received, with the groups split evenly (open groups) to ensure groups A-L are filled.

Groups will be limited to the following max numbers:

AL - 150

BL - 180

CL - 200

DL - 220

EL - charity group

FL to LL - 300

Obviously the group sizes will be smaller if the number of entries are less than anticipated.

Licensed groups are seeded too but this is only used if the max number of entries per batch are reached.

As always, if you have a query, you're welcome to ask me, but respect that I work for a boss and do all this in my spare time.

Make a difference! Choose one of the charities below and get fund raising. All you need to do is link your entry to your chosen charity.

Moooooving Along!

The Cows, are not your conventional cyclist group, an enthusiastic group, they could be likened to a mad hatter tea party, a seat for everyone at their table. Their cause is an important one as they raise funds for the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation. The Cow’s motto “Love Living Life” says it all, are you up for the Challenge?

If yes, don’t hesitate and join The Cows now at the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic Cycle Race. All funds raised by you, go to supporting CHOC projects that give real meaning to the phrase ‘supporting children with cancer’.

To raise money for the Cows, set up a charity page when you enter, set your target and get raising, every cent counts!

For more information on The Cows see their website www.thecows.co.za or email daisy@thecows.co.za

Give Pink a Try

You can see the Pink Drive from a mile away, as they drive their message home, “Early detection Saves Lives.”

PinkDrive is South Africa’s best-loved breast cancer community care organisation. Their biggest drive is to ensure that as many women as possible can have breast screenings, to prevent undetected breast cancer. They have mobile Women’s Health mammography and Gynaecology Units, which go to areas where they are most needed and help those in need – that wouldn’t normally have access to these facilities. The work they do is vital in the fight against breast cancer.

If you want to be a Breast Cancer Warrior and raise money for their cause in this year’s Carnival City Macsteel National Classic Cycle Race, then simply add a charity page to your entry, set your target and get raising, every cent counts!

“Together we can raise more funds, build more mobile units and save more lives!”

For more information on how to become a PinkAthlete, check out the website pinkdrive.co.za, like the Facebook page or follow them on Twitter, @ThePinkDrive.

Have a heart for our muscles!

Our Muscle Riders group are a group of cyclists with big hearts, we ride for those suffering from muscular dystrophy, to make a positive difference in their lives. Starting at last year’s 94.7 with a specially adapted sports wheelchair, this group pulled Pieter Joubert around the tough course with the wind and the heat-it was no easy feat, but they did it and have big plans for this year!

Building their cause, they are excited at being included as one of the charities for the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic Cycle Race. Want to show how big your heart is? Why not join the Muscle Riders, it’s easy simply add a charity page to your entry, set your target and get raising, every cent counts!

Your support would benefit the lives of many people affected by muscular dystrophy. Fundraising is all about FUN, and riding a bicycle for those who can’t makes it all the more worthwhile.

For more information on how to become a Muscle Rider visit their website www.muscleriders.co.za or contact them on 011 472 9824 or mdfgauteng@mdsa.org.za

A woof and a meow for SPCA

We all have a soft spot for this organisation, the work they do in protecting the animals we love is truly remarkable! SPCA have now also got in line with the #RideForACause Campaign, using all funds raised to assist in the fight against cruelty to animals.

SPCA works hard not only to care for abused animals but also to educate communities on how to care for the animals entrusted to them. They believe that it starts with education of what cruelty is and how to stop it.

Their work is important, they just need the funds to carry it out, they rely on donations to keep the good work they are doing going!

If you are like us believe in stopping cruelty to animals then simply add a charity page to your entry, set your target and get raising, every cent counts!!
