I have a Trek series 6 bike for about 8 years now and would like to " upgrade ".

Now i always was a Trek fan although i see this room is not the biggest Trek fans or maybe i havent see them just yet.

Now i would please like some advise what will be my best option.

I would like to convert to the 29" and im no racer and do mostly road races - I enjoy distance of between  of about 50 - 60 km  and also have done cape argus and 94.7 a few times  but i would enjoy a fast bike ( LOL ).

I like the Trek super fly and Momsen 9?? something and well the Santa cruz looks also good.

Merida and Giant how do the compare and what will be the best second hand around 20k mark.

Is there perhaps other bikes that i can have a look at.?

108? Glad to know there's at least one guy bigger than me LOL :whistling:

If you doing mostly road races, any reason why you don't look at a road bike? Doesn't mean you can't use a 29ner on the road, but ... just saying.

I was also wondering the same thing about a road bike.

Also, weighing in at 108, make sure the frame and wheels are rated for that type of weight. For example, I have a Specialized Epic (ok people, let's not get into that debate here ;) ), and the owner's manual clearly states that rider and bike together should not exceed 100kg's - I stand 1.95 and weigh in at 95 so am exceeding their recommendation, and though I have never had a problem, I suspect if I ever did that would be one of the first things blamed.

Definitely not. Large or X large depending on the frame.

1,78m tall and 100kg

Currently on a medium. With the original long stem I was borderline. Switched to a shorter stem and wider bars and now I feel a bit cramped. In the future if the budget allows then I will definitely go for a large. Until then, the current budget dictates that my current setup is not too small, but rather flickable....

Try a CycloCross bike if you're not doing "mountain biking"

Ive switched from a 29er for the Road/Gravel riding to a Giant AnyRoad & a 27.5 for the mountain.

best decision ever

Just to be technical correct, Anyroad is not a CX bike, its a "Gravel Grinder" bike, so lot more relaxed/comfy layout
