But at least give us more highlights of the day, dammit.  Good TV is about drama, and the drama is at the mid-pack and tail end of the field.  And because of UCI's stupid rules, we don't even get to see amateur footage from other riders.

Point taken GL. So it's not that simple. Maybe an hour at 9 pm or so ? I'm complaining , but it's "good" complaining. We want to see more.

Coverage is a complete hack - Epic has lost the plot in this regard in my opinion.

Part of me thinks that there is no way that they can get it so wrong - surely not with their budget and experience, its as if they have a take it or leave it approach and really they are not concerned about the public at large. Then I think surely not, if they have sponsors they need to account to and the money they spend. But they get it so so wrong.

Getting it right:

  • Alex Harris with a minuscule budget and far greater range created more hype and involvement with his Munga.
  • Oli Munnik screeching video clips on twitter with insight for Tankwa was deeper in the same mountains and he was excellent.

I went to Hoogekraal yesterday, it was dead, got barked at for walking in a field by a marshall who told me his orders were not to let anyone walk outside a demarcated area after sunrise. Chose not to argue.

The riding and riders are world class - the coverage needs to take a good hard look at itself - def not world class.

I was thinking of going Saturday with my boys to the Delheim viewing point, but after reading through the supporter's PDF, I decided not to go.  It seems the whole thing has turned into a dog and pony show for the advertisers and the farms involved, and how much money they can rake in from it, rather then the fans, and making it awesome for them to participate.

Epic fail.
