Hi Guys,

I need to get an Ozzie visa for me and the wifey.

What is the process from inside NZ?

Thanks

It's pretty easy.

Go to https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login and create an immi account.

If you have a Bristish passport it's really easy, free, and will be approved within a day. If you have the regular old green book... then the process is quite a bit more involved.

Apply for a Subclass 600 visa. There are 3 varients of this, namely Visiting family, Business, Tourism. I filed mine under "Visiting family".

Fill in all the info. Upload all the documents (there are a ton), Pay the fee (approx AUS$135 if I remember correctly), and wait.

They will then send you a notice requesting Biometrics. This is done with by booking with TTS ( https://www.ttsaustralia.com/?Country=newzealand&Documents=Index ). They're in the CBD. They'll take prints and a photo. After that there is a 1day - 1 week waiting time, then they'll email you granting the visa (hopefully)

If you have any further questions, especially regarding the supporting documentation and Justice's of the Peace (certification), etc, feel free to PM me.

Hope that helps

Is all that graft for a single 3 month entry bud?

If you go get an Aussie visa make sure it is a 2 year multi entry, you will use it more than once and you do want to avoid the process where possible...

there is a lot of work involved. I must have submitted about 20 supporting documents, all certified by a Justice of the Peace.

I did request a multi entry, and the max they would give me as a visitors visa was 12 months.

South African colleagues of mine got sent to Aus for meetings. They got granted 2yrs (first time application), and 4yrs for the one that had live din Aus for a number of years, but moved to NZ.

Good point Patches - and WP - apply for the business visa, not the holiday one. Think that is what will get you the 2 year jobbie.

Thanks! I get a year at a time in a 2 min application process but it was for my wife I was asking as she is on a SA passport. If it is that much hassle I'll look elsewhere to spend tourist dollars

We've excluded Australia from any possibly holiday plans for exactly that reason, until we have our Kiwi passports.

Be patient with TT Services. They are TERRIBLE to deal with, have no competition, and treat you like the walking wallet you are. But there is no way around dealing with them.

So no different to the guys who do the medicals and bio here in Durban then. I'm pretty glad that process is over for me!

The process wasn't THAT bad to be honest.

in total took me about 3 week from start to finish.

After I had my TTS visit, I got an approval email within 2hrs

An old WWII bunker (on the left), from when the Kiwis were worried that ze Germans would come over to steal the secret to pineapple lumps.
