Part of the financial migration process requires you to close all accounts.

Then all funds are placed into a managed deposit account and once everything is in there like RAs and so on it’s transferred out and closed.

If you want to continue having a bank account you need to reapply and meet certain criteria.

Why would you want to keep an account open?

Supporting my aged mother. It's better if I can transfer cash from an SA account to her account rather than getting her to organise receipt of foreign transfers.

Speaking of which, if anyone has ZARs mouldering away...[emoji6]

Myself and a fellow Saffer flew down to Christchurch for a date weekend with our bikes.

The plan was to do 2 long rides (7hrs & 10hrs) exploring the back country.

approx 7hrs & 80% offroad.

approx  10hrs & 85% offroad.

Unfortunately day 1 was cut short just 45min in after my friend drowned his bike in a river crossing (he should have followed the line I used to cross, hahaha). We spent the next 1.5hrs trying to breathe life back into it. The bike would start, but cut out when accelerating. We needed more than trail-side tools so called a mate to come fetch the lifeless bike and defeated rider.

Back in the garage, after many hours stripping down and drying out components, we got it running properly again.

Day 2 we decided to skip the planned route and opt for another go at Day 1's route, avoiding the offending crossing, just in case a repeat was on the cards.

At the top of Lees pass, looking out at the Canterbury plains.

All in all, amazing weekend down in Canterbury. I can highly recommend exploring the areas, via any mode of transport!

Its not a big mission sending money over from here to SA. I make payment here online and my mom gets a call from her bank the next day to confirm the reason for the payment, and thats it.

Thanks for sharing these adventures Patches, even if it makes us old folks green with envy...

I’m in need of som NZ$. Leaving on 2 Feb for Wellington on a holiday/family responsibility trip.

I contacted a group called Financial Emigration to enquire about FE.

They want R1800 to do a tax review prior to starting.

Does this sound right?

Sounds like a quick buck exercise. And with the March 2020 deadline drawing ever nearer, you'll only see more companies doing this and charging more as well.

Cashkows, now Fin Global had a good reputation for doing this type of thing when I moved over. I'll be doing more research on this through the year as well.

i highly recommend Henrico from Rand Rescue.

Cashcows screwed my stuff up so bad and Henrico sorted it out.

If you are keen, let me know and I’ll pm you his number.

He was better priced than cashcows too.
