Deep Sleep

Years ago went for full apnea test,,,twice. I'll look if I can find the print out of the results,,,, I knew I didn't sleep much, I had no idea how little sleep I get,,,I honestly cannot remember going to sleep in the evening and waking up in the morning, not even as a kid, the total time not breathing was even scarier on the test results ,,,,,I would kill for 4 hours, sleep time for me goes like this I won't bother even trying before 1 or 2, normally 2-3 "sleep" till 6 repeat

It blows my mind how many people go to bed at 8:00/8:30 and wake up in the morning,,,,, and that's with calming and sleeping pills,,, otherwise I end up pacing

So this may not answer your question but here is some very interesting information for you...In order to properly recover from exercise you need a minimum of  2-3 hours deep sleep. And here's why- Shortly after falling asleep your pituitary gland starts producing growth hormone. This lasts 2-3 hours minimum. Increased growth hormone essentially is your body producing new cells. This effects almost every system in your body such as skin, muscle, bone, tendons, joints, tissue. The long term effect of this is lower cell production leading to increased ageing, weaker immune system, slower recovery and a weaker body in almost every aspect. I have studied growth hormone for over 25 years and have extensive information on it. Get your deep sleep!

A little bit more info: From your mid 20's your body's growth hormone production drops by 2% a year. This decrease in growth hormone levels leads to less sleep. There are some natural ways to increase these growth hormone levels that you can follow.

So any suggestions on how to get those 2-3 hours sleep

I'm so buggered by the night (work and riding) that I get those 2 hours between 8 and 10 on the couch before I even go to bed much to my wife's disgust  :whistling:

More with alcohol...

also think it may be the only way I get deep sleep....occasionally comatose....

Alcohol actually prevents you from going into proper deep sleep... thats why you feel so ***!

Try taking some magnesium before bed - quite a lot actually... :) works for some people.

I find i sleep much better if the bedroom is quite cool to cold, if its warm like the rest of the house warm then i start to toss and turn constantly. Also i try not have a nap before bed time (like BB between 8-10), if i have a nap i then struggle to sleep later.
