Hubbers, I am really nervous about this one. I have never done it before (or anything remotely like it). I hope to be done in 13 to 14 hours. Some times I have done are: 6:02 on the 99km Sani2C day 2. 5:04 on the Sabie Marathon. 4:50 on the Barberton 75km. 6:45 on a 133km ride with 1444m of climbing. I don’t think I have it in me to be on a bike for longer than 14 hrs. Lets see what happens…..

Ride waterpoint to water point. And look around - it is truly a spectacular part of our country.

This was the packing list from my first Baviaans:

So the forecast shows a bit of rain on both events, and yes its just a forecast for now, I do believe it can & probably will change, but should it not how will this change the strategies?

Guys, do we get the gps files at registration to load or where to we get the route info?

No. You get a physical route map and description per team. There are downloadable files on TransBaviaans website.

The Norwegians predict no rain for Willowmore, no rain for Bergplaas and only Saturday morning showers in Jeffrey's. They're usually spot on so I'm going to believe them. Also because it's more convenient to believe them at this stage.

I have a full set of dry kit, a few rain jackets/wind breakers and a towel packed for bergplaas. Other than that I guess the strategy is just to keep going.

Same as last year's first one, second weekend we had head wind all the way. Enjoy choppas. This year I am on backup duty [emoji36]

Hi, my partner and I won't be able to do baviaans this weekend. Anyone looking for a two-man entry, please send me a message.

is there still time to train?

Posted

Yes there is, I started training last Wednesday after a 3 month total hiatus and minimal riding in the 4 months before that. Trust me it is going to be a Biatch.
