As a first timer buying a watch of this sort has anyone got a review?

I like the fact that it's running, cycling and swimming compatible

Just be aware not really compatible for indoor training as the GPS function does work indoor for cycling or running on treadmill. My wife bought one and we sold it a few weeks later But for outdoor use only, excellent option.

The GPS is very accurate for indoor cycling! It shows exactly where you are stationary....

Cant go wrong for 1500..... I see they are discounting them deeply in preparation for the next generation of TomTom watches but worry not, the current watches will be supported indefinitely.

hi Qbic, ive had my tomtom multisport for 4 months now and i use it every day. pool swimming, running, mtb and road cycling. it evens tracks your sea swims. mine is not the cardio one (so no built in heart rate monitor) - but i prefer it that way. i bought my chest-strap tomtom HRM for 800 bucks on takealot, and it has never let me down. except for the times when ive forgotten to put it on. i'd give the tomtom multisport a 10 out of 10 for my needs, for battery life, and for automatically uploading my activities to strava for me. it rocks.

ey?

Why would any watch use GPS for indoor use?

They pretty much all use the accelerometer for treadmill work and swimming.

It doesnt link with wattbikes due to being bluetooth only but then neither do a bunch of others.

What (trisport) alternatives do you have for R1.5k? For R2k? R2.5k....?

Even without HRM this is a damn good option for triathlon training. That said, the R100 discount isn't much...

The GPS indoor thing becomes a biggy when you just want to monitor your damn heartrate. So for spinning, nope sorry, unless you change it to "treadmill". The freestyle is not so free, because you need gps lock which you stuggle to get indoors. The tomtom website has been filled with requests just to turn gps off on atleast freestyle mode, but has fallen on deaf ears.

Flip side as someone said, don't think you gonna get an as capable watch for this price though.

Great watch. Have the built in hm. Accurate GPs and auto link to Mysport and Starva once activity is done. Indoors treadmill function works well.

For stationary cycling it obviously can't track sp3ed etc.but keeping an eye on your hr is possible via the treadmill function.

Interval training is also great. Set distance/time, rest period and number of sets.

Pretty good battery life. Nothing l ike a fitness band though.

Cadence/speed accessories can be purchased for biking.

Cool feature of the newly released 2.0 watch is built in music storage so streaming to wireless headphones is possible.

Overall a great watch.

Good price.

Good battery.

Quick GPS connection.

Able to link to a few fitness apps/sites.

Comfortable.

Great viewing angles in bright light.

Vibration is great once target achieved.

Only con is the GPS needing to lock on for FreeStyle mode. This can be worked around though.
