Other bonus points is that you can be run internally or externally, 5min job to switch between the two..

Also the lever can be swopped out for an old shifter or other cable actuating device. Whatever suits you.

How does the cable attach to the shifter? The cable head sits in the seatpost, not the lever side.

Aah yes, this is true, but one should be able to jippo something to make it work.

Thinking of getting one of these for the wife's 2014 Silverback Slider 1.

I would need to use a shim though, and her max seatpost length is also just 34cm.

Hoping the 2016 version (35cm) could possibly fit by either getting a flatter saddle or somehow grinding away the bottom 1cm of the post.

Because it's not that there's an obstruction in the post that limits exactly 34cm, just that there's a bend there.

The 350mm one is the length of the complete post, not just the insert.. so if my assumption is right, the insert should be 230mm..

350mm overall length

less 100mm drop

less 20mm collar/dust wiper...

which length drop option are you looking at?

Not sure about the old post's internals, this is what the new one looks like. Maybe you can tell if they are the same.....

Looks very similar to the pics I've seen of the old cartridge, of course the newer 150mm drop post will use a longer cartridge than before and perhaps also be more expensive than the shorter cartridge.

Don't care, anything that will fit her bike. Whether that is 100mm or even less.

I tested using her current seatpost and the maximum insertion into the seat tube on her Small 2014 Slider 1 frame is 14cm on the dot.

Her saddle rails are then 20cm above that exact point meaning we can go 34cm max, unless a 30.9mm could maybe go in 15cm or something.

A bit stupid having her on that awesome trail bike with almost no dropper options available.

Identical IMO.

I have worked on my old 2015 version when swopping from external to internal.

The crtridge flips over when changing between the 2 modes.

Mine is running perfectly. Swopped to internal routing on my Trance. Just plugged the hole at the seat with insulation tape to protect it from mud and dust.

The do tends to get a bit sticky but a simple and east cable replacement sorts it out good as new. Just keep it clean, can start to get scratched if there is a lot of dust on the stanchion.
